Ce que je cherche c’est l’aventure | "He's a smith. The only around here, actually. The other towns usually have to come here whenever they need shoes for their horses or to get their tools fixed," Cecilia said, knocking on the door again. She wasn't exaggerating - for good and bad, Kinnen had to do the work for at least three villages. Good for Asheboro because it brought in business, good for Kinnen and for her inn because it kept their coffers stocked. Bad for the villagers that had to travel to get basic parts. From what Cecilia had picked up it was becoming quite a hassle. Kinnen had gotten an apprentice recently, planning to send him to work in another village, but it'd be a least a year or two before he was fully trained.
She was about to rap on the door for the third time when Kinnen opened it. He embraced her; she squeaked, breathing in the smell of firewood and iron. What bring you to my place, Cece?" She gestured to the blonde man.
This is Miles. He's a guardian-shield," she said, earnest, clasping her hands behind her back. "He's heading back to...well, he's heading back home and he, er, lost his map. We were wondering if you could him out."
Well, I suppose so...
"Great! You're in good hands, Miles. I'll see you later tonight." Cecilia smiled, waving goodbye as Kinnen invited Miles inside. She had to get back to her own shift at the inn and ignore the urge to stay, to maybe ask Miles if he'd teach her something about using a sword, but...No, she had work to do and he certainly had better things to occupy his time.
Note: Do you mind ending the thread here? I don't have all that much muse for Cece.

you know what else is great? me. “A smith and a mapmaker. He must be quite busy then, especially if he’s the only one around here.” Miles watched as she again knocked. The man opened his door and quickly pulled her into a tight hug. Miles smiled at her noise and watched her explain to the man about his needs. “I really only need a map to get to Blaikfurd. Hopefully one that won’t melt in the rain or other water.” He was still embarrassed about his fumbling in the stream but managed to keep his thoughts on the present and not blush. He looked back at Cecilia when she said her farewell. “Yeah, I’ll see you tonight.”
He looked back at the man who ushered him inside to work on the map. The man asked him lots of questions about where he was from and his travels though Miles could only speak little of them since he hadn’t really done much. He noticed the smith’s, Kinnen, looks at him when he spoke of his lack of sword skill. “You want to become a Guardian Shield but you can’t even use a sword. Sounds to me like you should rethink where you want to end up.”
“I can’t really rethink it. My family has been gifted for generations because we serve Orik and work to keep Domhan Tir safe. It’s part of me to become a Shield.” The man looked at him again working on a quick map.
“Perhaps it would be better for you to learn more about herbs and healing. There’s never a shortage of healers.”
“Maybe, I’ll have to see.” Miles wasn’t sure about that. He knew some of his family had been healers so it did have a place but he wanted to do more than that. Kinnen finished the map and handed it to him. Miles was about to pay him but the man wouldn’t take the money.
“Get to Blaikfurd and do Orik proud.” Miles just nodded a bit taking the map and started heading back to the inn. He had some thinking to do. Thinking about what he wanted to do in the future.
