Tonight was the night. The debut of the star. The debut of the divisions she represented. The debut of the new era of Geinokai.
Dress rehearsal had gone well. With the new costuming technology she could literally change her look while on stage; as long as she had prepared the necessary equipment to do so. Now that the costumes were all digitally stored, it made such things as large wardrobes and worries about malfunctions a thing of the past. However, the technology was still under patent by Geinokai's supplier and under the contract that Nikyoku paid a serious amount of money for, even for Geinokai's standards. But it didn't really faze her. She knew a gem when she saw one. This technology would keep Geinokai well endowed for decades, possibly. Even as she performed for the empty arena, she could feel her heart race.
Now if only her other problem were so easy to fix...
Security for the concert had become a bit of an issue.
Yesterday, a cameraman had been caught sneaking around the backstage door dressed like your typical hobo. It was uncertain how long he'd been there, but when he'd been discovered, Nikyoku had pushed security to question and detain him. Someone out there was already aware of what Geinokai was planning, and was putting their own plan into action to make sure it didn't stay secret. There were two big problems with that. One, it meant there was a mole somewhere in the company leaking out information such as where and when secrets were being debuted and transported. Two, it meant Nikyoku herself was no longer safe in her little secret until she identified the persons responsible and rooted them out.
But the concert couldn't be canceled. Not at this point. Too much money and resources had gone into the debut. Too many's peoples hard work and dreams were riding on this show. It was imperative that it went off without a hitch.
Nikyoku was in her dressing room with the door locked. It wasn't a high caliber door, no, but it was enough for the moment, she thought. Nikyoku's clothing was lying over to the side, folded neatly in preparation for after the show when Suta would need to change back. She couldn't risk putting her official President image clothes into the digital database because it would send up too many red flags if techs or maintenance noticed and started thinking about the implications. So it would have to be done analogue when she changed back. It had advantages and disadvantages, but it was the surest way to be discreet.
She played the rehearsal recording again from her Business Planner Pen. It was the object that held all her memos and her important information. It helped her plan her moves in this business. Since she no longer had her dear assistant... her pen was the only companion who knew her secrets.
