I will hunt you down... So it would seem he had opened the flood gates, he made one comment, and the petite heroine that had whisked him from the brink of death to breath new life into him barraged him with questions. Ivan remained silent as he stared at the woman, when she was done speaking he would only chuckle unable to resist the smile that decorated his dark facial features. The man shook his silver topped head shaking away the mental image which her words plastered into his mind, "Heh well then, maybe another time" he said commenting at her probing earlier, although he was well aware what she meant he figured it best to make light of the situation. Only because the next few words that would answer her question may put him on the bad end of her morale compass, not many were fond of bounty hunters; yet Ivan felt safe to share this with Lelage. To an extent she seemed very open minded at least with the stories she shared, "I've no problem to share answers with you Lelage, it is the least I can do after you showed a complete stranger such outstanding kindness..." a pause came in his words as he looked around, the damp streets still finding themselves somewhat empty; but even so he felt unsafe sharing any details here.
Without a word he moved towards the fields passing Lelage as he motioned with his head to her, "Come, we must get to the fields" he said as he walked along this time keeping his pace in synch with hers so they walk side by side. "As I was saying, I do not mind sharing my story. But I will make you aware that I am entrusting you with delicate information, and I will ask you to please keep what I say here today between us. No other ears must know any of this..." with those words of caution he turned towards the girl as he walked. His golden eyes searched hers for a moment, looking for any sign of hesitation or deceit in her, when he found none to bring concern or worry he went on. Figuring he should give her all the answers in one go he would start with the most basic, "I am a hunter yes. But I hunt criminals, I am a bounty hunter. As for who was looking for me, well that is simple; I was chasing a group of known bandit leaders through the woods. Each man with a bounty so sizable it could be worth a small fortune all together, needless to say I stepped into an ambush...the wound you stitched came from a trap I narrowly avoided. If it had not been my shoulder, it would've been my head that would have suffered...heh such is the danger of working alone" he commented exposing the fact that he was a lone hunter.
"Regardless, when the trap set off I injured one of the leaders managed to escape from him, when I did I heard a howl coming from a horn I knew he was calling back up. I feared my wounds left tracks, or my sloppy escape would lead them here...but from what you tell me no faces approached you, which is good" he commented as he up a hill, judging from what he had seen the crops were located just over this hill but Ivan would stop walking once they made it under a tree. The next bit he had to say he felt needed his full attention, because unfortunately he could not reveal all of his past to Lelage in one go; she was a kind hearted soul but he did not trust her entirely. With careful words he would open the door, give her a peek at who he was. "I was born into a village where hunting was the main way of life, I am the son of the head of the village. My father taught me all I know from hunting to the importance of family..." pausing for a minute the towering man would shut his eyes, allowing his mind to flood him with the painful memories of the events that followed. With a sigh the man would make it short for Lelage, "...my father died, when he did I was crushed...unable to fully believe myself to be the hunter he was. I left the village, abandoned it I wander from land to land my home a distant memory, and one of the greatest regrets that weighs me down the most" he would turn from Lelage after saying that.
"That is who I am, Ivan Sahale...an outcast who abandoned his people, and now wanders the land with no place to call home..." he would chuckle as he started walking up the hill reaching the top his golden eyes would widen for a moment. What he was witnessing worried him, the fields looked fine from afar but...he sighed realizing this would possibly disappoint Lelage, standing there in silence he waited for her to arrive at the top with him.

LELAGE VINIMA

The Little Inn The unlikely duo marched adjacent of one another along the soggy path. All the while the woman paid her respects and remained quiet as they strolled along, thriving in curiosity of the giant Ivan. Her twin, glittering eyes (despite her fatigue) were glued to the ground, watching as her toes, then the rest of her foot, would climb into view with every passing step. Lelage tightened the grip about her scythe as she used the tool as a makeshift walking stick through the thicker mud. As the man spoke, Lelage could tell deep down he still didn’t fully trust the woman which was completely expected and had no sadness taint her heart. If anything, she wanted their conversation to help strengthen their already firm bond. Even just meeting the night before over the strangest circumstances, Lelage enjoyed the change in pace, and call it selfish or not but was hoping and wanting the man, Ivan, to stay for a long time. Seeing the same faces every day, with the occasional new face, someone—no matter how hard they tried—just wouldn’t be able to erase the memory of a stranger such as this man so easily. And so she listened, ears perked and ready for the incoming information. So far so good! Everything he let loose about himself satisfied the woman’s peaked curiosity, for the moment, and so caused the Innkeeper to halt in her tracks, lift her head, and gaze heavily at the back of the man as she peaked the hill which lead to her fields. Lelage brightened her smile as best as she could from how bright it already was, and placed a hand firmly atop her hip as she readied herself to speak. “ Well then!” She started off, a heavy breath escaped from the long trek upward, “ That explains a lot, Mr. Muscles, must be hard fighting man-to-man.” Lelage nodded and shifted her weight, “ In a way, Mr. Sahale, it sounds as if you’re the hero some people need… your profession is your profession and I won’t change who you are, and honestly have no desire to—” With a shrug Lelage laughed, “ I’d be a complete moron if I didn’t think there were bad people out there who deserved the worse, does that make me a bad person? Perhaps, to-each-his-own. But don’t worry, your secret is safe with me, just keep your business out from the inn and we’ll be happy campers.” The petit woman furrowed her brows that feigned authority over the brute, which was quite funny considering Ivan could overtake the woman in an instant if he felt like it—and she was well away of that fact—but she did trust the man not too, maybe she was an idiot to trust to easily, but if she wasn’t the one to give people the second chance—or third or fourth—then who would be? As soon as her “scary authoritative” look appeared it vanished and was replaced with swift kindness, “ As for leaving your home…” The woman started her next topic and slowly mad her way to the top of the hill, but as she did she remained focused on Ivan her torso and vision directed his way. “ What are you talking about?” Lelage swiped at Ivan’s arm playfully only to realize she had hit his bad side and immediately stepped back, “ I am so sorry—wow, I didn’t—what a way to ruin the moment…” Red flushed the woman’s cheeks as she quickly hid her face in her left palm. With her face hidden she gently poked the man with her free hand, “ What I was saying is you have a home, silly, that’s what I provide for souls such as yourself, lost and wandering, you know?” After a moment Lelage peaked at the man through her fingers, her face still heated from the embarrasement, “ So get it out of your head you have no home, because for now you do, and like all people who grow old—one day you’ll decide to leave and find a place for your own, and even though you might not settle just yet, you’ll always have good ol’ Blaikfurd Inn to call home.” Finally Lelage dropped the hand from her face and scrunched her nose in attempts to keep the blush from reappearing. “ One day you might want to revisit where you came from, now whether that will become your home once again is up to you, you’ll never know until you try, Mr. Muscles,” Lelage gently averted her gaze to Ivan once again, “ I’m sorry for your loss, but no regrets, you made your decision, you are where you are right now, and along your journey you’ll find places and people that will make it worthwhile. Not to mention, making horrible mistakes and decisions along the way as well, but guess what? You learn from that, you never dwell.” A heavy sigh slid through the woman’s lips, “ Wow, I talk a lot, I’m surprised your ears haven’t ran the other way just yet, beca—” After all that breathless conversation the woman had not once truly observed her fields, despite standing at the top of the hill with them in plain sight, until she—while speaking—rotated her head, and now basked at the view of her crops. Instantly all thought process vanished Lelage’s mind as she witnessed the flooded pit that was now her crop field. Various emotions swelled Lelage’s mind and body as she dropped the scythe by her side. She had no idea how much it would rain the night before—the wind must’ve been strong, since the woman usually hadn’t to worry with downpours, the water being a blessing usually; however, if the wind had a roll in the storm, it would’ve definitely guided the rainfall to one spot, that spot being her crops. “ Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn--.” Lelage cursed, usually there was hope, that the plants would be fine it would just postpone pollination or postpone harvest, but not today. The tall barley stalks were bent and some were snapped, the mud at their base swallowed a majority of the plant. There was no saving them. The only thing would be to gather the destroyed crops, fix the soil for the next day, and start over. The saddest part was that now the woman was a good few months behind on brew production. “ The most frustrating part is that I can’t do anything about it, sometimes I wish I just had control on Nature—” Lelage vented, her frustration seeping through her words and every twitch in her body, “ Great, because now that I’m postponed in making my brew I’ll have to sell the good stuff that I was saving for me and my father—you happy, Nature? Are you happy?” Lelage kicked the mud at her feet, instantly regretting the idea since the mud splattered about her legs and a few spots decorated her cheeks. “ Uck—” After a good few minutes of incoherent, frustrated mumbles, the woman averted her muddy-self to Ivan, “ Sorry you had to witness that, I’m usually very poise in front of employees, but then again I’m usually the only one tending my fields and these are just as important as my inn…” Lelage sighed, “ This isn’t fun, but we’re just going to have to completely remove the barley plants… are you familiar with harvesting this crop? If so what you can salvage just throw in a pile, and I’ll see what I can do once we return, other than that…yep…I’m going to need a keg later…” The innkeeper huffed as she rolled her sleeves, picked up her scythe, and left Ivan behind as she approached her fields. NOTES: YOU ARE FINE DAAARLING~ I LOVE IT <3 AND WOW SO MY BAD THAT WAS A LOT MORE THAN I THOUGHT TO WRITE LOL hopeitwasgood~ So I wasn't sure if you wanted to play around with Ivan's abilities here or not, if you do that would spark some more OMGILOVEYOUIVAN from Lelage, haha, if not no biggy we can just work with the fields then return to the inn-- if you do that and just return to the inn, you can drop it off at them just returning and I can pick up from there. Skype me if you have any ideas or questions~ |

I will hunt you down... Her words were many but none were wasted, Ivan listened to every single on he had to admit this woman was only proving to be one of the best people he had ever come across in his travels. Ivan had met them all from cruel, and cunning to sweet, and kind; however Lelage the inn keeper of Blaiksfurd took the cake in that category, she was someone who Ivan despite knowing her for only a half a day felt he could relax around. There was no threat here, in fact it was quite the opposite there was a sense of warmth, and comfort that radiated from the woman only amplified by her kindness, the golden eyed man would turn from the destroy crops when the woman jabbed his arm it didn't hurt, but it was obvious she had realized which she had jabbed at. Ivan would find it amusing a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips, the man could not help but chuckle rather fond of the woman finding her embarrassed state to be, well cute. It would be her following words however that would erase Ivans smile, replacing it with wide eyes, and a slightly parted mouth as he stood there not entirely believing what he was hearing.
The woman despite note knowing him too well, and despite hearing his story which mentioned his profession, was willing to welcome an outcast to her home, essentially she was welcoming Ivan with open arms. This would tug at the mans heart strings, he almost wanted to walk over, and embrace the tiny frame that was Lelage thank her from the bottom of his heart for her unmatched kindness. "Lelage, than--" before he could finish though the girl would seemingly go wide eyed, and pale as if she was staring at a ghost but Ivan knew exactly what she was looking at because he had witnessed the terrible sight himself moments ago. The man would watch quietly, letting Lelage vent he knew all too well how dangerous it was to bottle up ones rage, the towering man remained quiet his eyes calmly eying the chaotic mess which was the crops in the distance there was nothing but a mud pitt here. When the girl finally addressed him he listened waiting until she was done, and began her march to salvage what she could it would be at that moment that Ivan would step forward placing a hand on her shoulder.
If she stopped at the sensation of his squeeze he would eye her in silence for a moment, his gaze meeting hers "You mentioned wishing you could control Nature?" he questioned her a smile creeping onto his features, "Let me show you....one of my secrets" he commented as he took his hand from her shoulder to wipe away some of the mud smudges on her face his thumb gently caressing her soft cheek. Ivan would nod at her afterwards walking towards the destroyed crops, his boots would squish into the muddy ground with every step Ivan would reach up grabbing his jacket, and removing it from his body. When he did he revealed a large back with every muscle finely defined, the mans dark skin tone amplify the definition of his muscular physique; Ivan would ball up the jacket then throw it aside with ease making it land outside of the mud. He would breath in deeply as he went down to one knee, Ivan would push his hand into the muddy ground, up to his wrist sinking into place. With eyes closed the man began to focus, slowly a green aura began to swirl around his arm working its way around his entire body.
Ivan would soon be cased in an outline of green energy that compacted itself around him, the energy crawled out spreading across the ground, and it would cling to the broken crops each of them glowing individually now as the mans energy enveloped them. Ivan would keep the breathing at a steady pace, soon the crops began to repair themselves as the crops repaired themselves Ivan would make them grow causing them to require more water intake this was the harder part of course. The soil would not outright dry, but it would become less muddy, and icky; the man began to focus more sweat beads already collecting on his bare back, and over his brow. He was almost done, finally when he felt it was done he opened his eyes the energy fading away leaving a somewhat muddy ground but the top layer was just mud, the bottom layer was dry, and the crops firmly rooted into place their exterior, and interior damage suffered from the storm now gone.
Standing from the ground the man took heavy breaths, his bare upper body caressed by the cool winds of the after storm day, he would turn to Lelage giving her a smile "Sorry I couldn't get rid of all the moisture, but the crops are saved...we should just work this mud away from them" he commented his tone gave away that he was a bit tired, then again focusing energy like that took a bit of a toll on him. The silver haired man would turn his attention to the crops ready to help Lelage harvest them, well the ones she would need for the day, also he was expecting a reaction from Lelage after she had witnessed what he had pulled off.

LELAGE VINIMA

The Little Inn A mixture of unflattering words cluttered Lelage’s mind as she stomped towards her fields. Her muscles were tense with aggravation, her eyes focused at the task at hand. It would be quite some time before the two would return to the inn, she had calculated, after cleaning the mess at the fields it would be near evening once they were done, and if they were lucky they could make it back in time for some dinner. If not, it would be leftovers for the duo. The woman hated leftovers; she enjoyed her meals hot, fresh, and ready, so the thought of returning home late was not pleasant. However, just as the weight of Ivan’s hand—presumably—was placed on her shoulder, a wave of reassurance coursed Lelage’s muscles and caused her to halt in all movement. With confusion plastered about her visage, the woman looked up helplessly at the brute of a man. She blinked twice at Ivan as he walked forward and puckered her lips as his large thumb brushed her cheek. Well, with how red and hot Lelage’s cheeks were after that little maneuver, it was a wonder how his thumb hadn’t combusted into flames. She just had to make a mess of herself from the mud. Talk about embarrassed. But that wasn’t what intrigued her the most at the moment, Ivan had mentioned “secrets” and “controlling Nature”, what could he possibly mean? Now unfamiliar abilities were common apparently, or at least from the rumors Lelage had stumbled upon at her inn, some say men had the strength of over ten men, or had the ability to create fire at will, it all sounded like some fairytale that she’d never in a million years be a part of, but so then what did Ivan mean? Like a child on their birthday, the woman scurried behind the towering giant and watched from a safe distance as he doubled forward near her plants. Too interested in the situation to speak, Lelage, who was alert and overflowing with curiosity, stood at a slant so she could peak over Ivan’s now bare shoulder. What happened next played in slow motion to the woman. Like being controlled by some puppeteer, all of Lelage’s snapped barley crops bent back into position, as if strings were controlling the stalks. The green hue that enveloped Ivan had also embraced the barley, breathing life into each and every grain. Lelage took a step forward, careful not to interrupt the man as she merely witnessed the amazing event. She could feel her jaw slightly ajar, her eyes widening as her crops were fixed right before her eyes. It was as if Ivan slapped one huge band-aid on the fields and called it a day! How did he acquire such an ability? Assuming the deed was done, since Lelage could feel the towering presence of Ivan once more, the woman spun on her heel and brought her hands together at her chin. It took all her power to refrain from hopping in place from excitement, but sadly her overzealous jubilance overcame what little power she had and the woman began bouncing, then jumping, until she spun around and ran to the closest barley stalk in her peripherals. All the while incoherent squeaks were heard from Lelage as she paraded about. With quick inspection, Lelage firmly held the stalk and examined the seeds. A smile had already began to form at her lips but as soon as she personally was able to feel the newfound life within her plants, healthy as if no storm had ever taken place, the smile exploded into the largest grin fathomable. “ I. Can’t. Believe. It!” Lelage finally spoke her language and turned to spy over her shoulder, “ I just can’t! How? What? You know—that’s fine! I don’t need to know, this is just amazing!” The Innkeeper giddily made her way back to Ivan and nearly threw herself at him with open arms and squeezed hard. “ Marry me!” Lelage shouted jokingly. Of course, just as she did so, she remembered his bad arm yet again and immediately released. “ Dang it!” The lady flinched and eyed Ivan’s poor arm, which honestly looked as if nothing was wrong with it—despite the shoulder, that wound was still pretty bad—but still she worried. With too much emotion to contain, Lelage snaked her arms under his and gave the man another large hug to the best of her capability. Words could not describe how relieved she felt. “ I don’t know what you’re apologizing about, Ivan,” Finally the adult finished her hugging spree and stepped back, arms now by her side, “ What you just did was miracle work, and I’m going to go ahead and warn you—but I’m not going to let you go so easily now!” Laughter filled the air as Lelage greedily rubbed her hands together, “ Oh so many good things! That means we will be back home in time for a fresh dinner—trust me you’ll love it—and I know I was saving it, but I’ll open up a keg of the good brew just for you and me. You saved my plants—I just, I’m so happy!” Soon the woman breathed and paced herself so her enthusiasm would die just a bit since they needed to resume their work. “ Ok back to business,” A loud clap echoed as Lelage slapped her hands together, “ Looks like another storm will be coming tonight, so I won’t harvest the plants just yet since I need them to dry out once I do—hopefully after this storm we will have a slight heat wave, they’ll need it—but like you said, let’s get this water and mud away from the base of the crops so they can breathe. That won’t take too long!” --~~--~~--~~--* And just as the woman had said, their work took little over two hours to complete which was well before what Lelage had anticipated prior to Ivan’s little magic trick. For the entire time they worked, Lelage would not be quiet. All she could talk about was how grateful and how amazed she was at Ivan’s “little secret”. She was sure she had to have annoyed him for a bit, but thankfully the two were headed back to the inn sooner rather than later. The inn was quieter than they had left it that morning, and due to the incoming evening, the lights were on and the fireplace was revved up. “ We return!” Lelage announced as she happily entered the inn, what little drunk customers remained cheered unknowing of any reason why. “ Alright, you just sit back and relax, I’ll get us food and drink.” The woman ordered Ivan as she hurriedly vanished in the back and returned minutes later with two large silver plates piled with various meats, bread, and potatoes lined along her left arm, and her right hand gripped two large pints of ale. She professionally made her way back to the table Ivan had selected and served the meal to Ivan before she too sat across the man and raised her drink. “ To you! And I lied—I’m just dying to know—were you born with that ability, or what?” Lelage almost too eagerly leaned over the table, “ And I promise I’ll drop it as soon as you answer!” NOTES: Not to sound like a broken record but I hope this was okay T^T!!! I don't want our thread to ever end EVER EVER |

I will hunt you down... Ivan was a bit surprised at Lelage's reaction he watched her as the girl approached her newly revived crops, her face screaming how awe struck she was at the sight when all of a sudden she would turn to Ivan then rush him allowing her arms to embrace him tightly. Ivan would flinch feeling his wound on his shoulder stretch a bit seeing as Lelage was surprisingly strong enough to squeeze his arms tightly into his body, luckily though she released him from the embrace it would be then that he was going to tell her it was alright; about the hug. But before he even got the chance the girl slipped her arms under his embracing him again, he would chuckle placing his good arm around her to return the embrace, "If we get married does that mean I get ownership of half the Inn?" he asked with another chuckle to slip out of his smiling lips. He would wait until the girl released him, she seemed impressed, and amazed with what he had done; but then again he had expected her to he had practically brought her crops back up from the pit of despair which they had plummeted into.
She'd get no complains from Ivan when she mentioned them getting back to work, with Lelage back to her normal self he would assume ti was time to pull as many as these crops as she was going to need. The man would nod walking towards the crops, besides the promise of a warm meal was an enticing offer the man could not deny he would work as fast, and as best he could so they could leave the fields soon. "...I'm sure the meal will be satisfying, and some of your special Ale...that..." he would pause as he worked the mud away from the crops his shoulder was a bit sore, but truth be told Lelage's excitement had rubbed off on him giving the man new found energy despite his exhausted use of his power earlier. "...sounds fantastic!" he said finishing his comment on the ale, as he stood upright wiping sweat beads from his forehead there may have been no beaming sun beating down on them; but this was hard work all together. Remembering fond memories of his early teen years on the fields, he would work away keeping conversation with Lelage, and doing his best to aid the tiny woman in all her needs.
_________________________
When they both returned to the Inn, Lelage was quick to announce it Ivan gave her a tired look he was not annoyed with her no; he was tired from all the work, admittedly it had been a while since this hulking brute had put in an honest days work. Watching as the drunks cheered he would nod at her, happy to find a seat he walked to one of the three tables closest to the roaring flames of the fireplaces, Ivan still remained shirtless it was a bit primitive of him but it was a habit he could nto curb. He was either shirtless or just with the coat on, and with how cold his body felt from the sweat combined with the late day winds; well he was welcoming the warm glow of the embracing flames. It was not long before Lelage emerged holding food, and drink he would smile brightly, his stomach practically coming to life with its sounds, he was starved. When she set the plate down he would smile staring at her, raising his own cup in response to hers he tapped it onto the surface of her own bringing the ale to his parched lips allowing the sweet drink to wash down his taste buds.
So she finally asked about his ability? The man chuckled as he set his ale down, happily grabbing a piece of meat with a tear from the bread he would stuff his mouth chewing roughly, the mans chiseled features defining themselves as his teeth crushed the food in his mouth. With one strong gulp the man swallowed a chunk of half chewed food, another poor habit he had picked up in his travels, leaning over his plate he would continue to eat biting into a potato, the entire time he contemplated his words knowing what he would tell her would give her insight to one of his biggest secrets. But, at the same time he did not mind Lelage had quickly proven to be a woman that Ivan could find himself comfortable around, looking at her beaming eyes as she waited for his answer he swallowed the potato. "During my first years as a hunter, I found myself hunting two marks in the forest. I tracked deep into the wilderness, somewhere along the way I lost them, and at the same time I nearly died in an ambush put together by them..." he commented as he paused only to toss a piece of fatty meat into his mouth. After swallowing Ivan continued, "...in a moment of desperation, I fell to my knees, and prayed to Orik to show me guidance in my time of need. The next thing I knew, I felt a warm light hit me...a feeling I cannot explain in words..." he paused again this time his mind reeling back to that day as the man vividly looked through the old memory.
"...I fainted, when I came to I was surrounded by vines they were wrapped around my arms, my torso. Everywhere, I stood, and I felt something inside...I felt this connection to the plants" he explained as he looked around spotting a flower in a pot just a few feet from where they sat. "I felt like they were a part of me, all I need to do is concentrate...and..." raising a finger Ivan pointed to the far off plan, his energy channeling to the flower in the pot. When he did the flower seemed to wiggle to life as it dancing, the yellow petals that made up the crown of the flower would grow, and beam a brighter yellow full of life. Ivan would lower his hand the flower stopping its wild dance when he did, "Since then I have been able to do what I did. In secret I practice, I try to dive more into it, and understand what it is. But to be honest with you, I have barely scratched the surface of this gift" he explained, his mind remembering a few failed attempts where he found himself almost impaled by a branch, or passing out from exerting his ability far beyond its current capabilities.
Smiling Ivan raised his glass of ale sipping from it, "On another, this is the best ale I have ever tasted" he shot the compliment at Lelage giving her another soft chuckle.

LELAGE VINIMA
I would give all my fame for a pot of ale and safety.
|
The Little Inn After their swift toast, the woman hurriedly brought the brim of her pint to her lips, open wide and took a few solid gulps—a bit more overwhelmingly than a woman her size could muster, but Lelage was an experienced drinker, and it definitely showed as she guzzled down half her pint before the man could answer her question. A heavy, satisfied sigh escaped her lips as she separated herself from the pint and adeptly wiped any remnants of the ale from her chin. She needed that, she really did. As soon as she had taken her drink, Ivan had already begun to dig—quite literally—into his meal. The sight, however grotesque it might’ve appeared to an outsider, was rather appeasing to the innkeeper and she couldn’t help but to smile softly at the scene. A man who ate happily was happy himself, she knew that much from living with a big ol’ brute (her father) for all her life; there was no other way to describe it. It also meant that the food had to have been tasty, and having the fulfillment of others was a boost in pride and confidence and meant a “job well done” to not only Lelage’s inn, but to her friends/ colleagues. Lelage observed the feasting before her, the gentle flames from the fire place lapped in rhythm, their light danced upon Ivan’s and her own features. She took this moment of silence, at least on her end, to allow her eyes to meander. They shifted about Ivan’s physique from his silver locks, to his defined façade, and lastly to the stitched wound sited at his shoulder, all the while her eyes glittered in reflection of the flames. The soft smile that decorated Lelage’s lips soon fell as she spotted the gash. It would most likely scar, the thought plagued Lelage’s mind. She knew that little fact wouldn’t bother Ivan so much, from the rest of his body—which she was in full view of as they sat there—the man had various other marks of battle that scattered his torso as if someone tripped and threw a bucket of scars in his direction. There friendship was newly born, but the woman couldn’t help but to feel the pang of worry tug at her heart. It was Ivan’s decision, she’d remind herself, she’s not one to change what people decide for themselves—she firmly believed independency was key to wisdom. The one thing Lelage would be sure of was if anything serious happened to Ivan, she would never forgive him. This mental declaration caused the innkeeper to chuckle softly inwardly, her eyes shut and that soft smile once again revealed itself, it was funny how connected she already felt towards the man. Sometimes people just attract like magnets, right? As she connected the dots, Ivan reminded her a lot of Brecht—her father—giant, caring, polite, devoted… That had to be it, that had to be the reason why they related so easily—at least for Lelage, she couldn’t read minds and so had no idea what was really going on in Ivan’s head, she could only read vibes to the best of her abilities, and she read a very comforting vibe from the man. That was for sure. Lelage lost herself in contemplation, but was soon snapped back to reality as Ivan spoke—his voice touched her ears soothingly, “ During my first years…” The woman, who brushed all previous thought aside, leaned in further with interest at every word. Ivan yet again spilled a part of himself to Lelage. As his story progressed, mentioning his hunt and the ambush, there was then a cue for the woman to follow his finger; she did so willingly and easily spotted the little flower pot in the corner of the room. A simple flowerpot that hadn’t gotten much sunlight since the moment she had placed it there when she opened the inn, but before she had time to blink the flower was injected with life, the color vibrantly glowing from within the plant. Lelage stared in awe, much like she did when they were at the fields, and only returned her gaze back to Ivan once he continued speaking. Lelage gripped her pint, her eyes locked with Ivan’s. “ I can tell it takes a lot out of you,” She would mention as she remembered the sweat beads that had dotted the man once he finished his trick at the fields, and even now there were signs of lethargy—but that could easily be from their work earlier that day, regardless the man’s muscles were exhausted and it was a good thing that they were back at the inn enjoying a hot meal. “ But that’s beautiful Ivan. That gift is quite something… ha, maybe I should be praying to Orik—perhaps he could make my ale all the more intoxicating, then everyone would be happy!” Lelage joked as she took a gentle sip of her ale, her eyes down and focused on the dark liquid, “ No I wouldn’t want that, that’d be cheating all my hard work, don’t you think?” “ …this is the best ale I have ever tasted.” The compliment sparked a giddy flame within Lelage’s chest, her features immediately livened much like the plant Ivan had just toyed with. “ I’m so happy you think so!” The woman nearly shouted with fresh excitement, “ Heh… I guess now would be a good time to share a little bit about myself.” But before she would, Lelage lifted the pint to her lips, drew back her head and guzzled the rest expertly, her right hand fisted on the table surface. Just as she finished, she dropped the pint with a loud “clank”, a signal that was receded with Fran—a young, pretty waitress and one of Lelage’s old friends—approaching the two with a large, vase that held enough ale for a party of eight. Without a word, Fran placed the vase, gave a quick bow to the two and left, but only just before Lelage waved, “ Thank you kindly, Franny! I can always count on you!” Now geared with more ale, the woman poured herself another hearty pint, brought that to her lips and drank once more, only this time finishing the entire thing in solid gulps. “ Ah~” Lelage sighed in approval, her features relaxed and her cheeks tinted a faint pink. She wasn’t drunk, oh no, but she allowed the alcohol to tickle her system—she’d feel the tipsy after a few more pints. The woman could hold her alcohol quite well. “ Well then! As you know I am Lelage Vinima! It’s a bit sad that I don’t remember the name of the village I came from, but that just shows you how small and unimportant it was, ha—” She joked, “ But it was a little trading post more than anything, more people passed through it than the people who were residents of the place. I believe it was that fact that inspired my father to open a brewery so that people could enjoy a drink before they were on their way. He didn’t own an inn, merely accepted people into his home and shared a few pints—didn’t matter the individual—and as risky as that was, not once was he in any sort of quarrels.” “ He was always glued to his work, night and day, my mother—long, long ago—I believe was like a “hostess” to his makeshift pub. Brecht—oh, that’s my father’s name—never had much time for family, I don’t remember though, I was so young and obviously I had to have been taken care of or I wouldn’t be here—” Lelage’s eyes lifted as she attempted her best to recall her childhood, “ What I do remember is my mother leaving us, without a word, only the clothes on her back. From there it was me and my father; the two of us against the world! I was happy, and am happy now, I could careless where my mother is or is doing—” Well that was partly true, Lelage acted a bit more tough than she was, she had her moments where she wondered where her mother was and what she looked like, but she never would admit it, she didn’t want to upset her father more than anything. “ But the whole point of this was that since my mother left I took it upon myself to help my father with his brewery, I believe I brewed my first ale at… was it ten or thirteen? It’s been so long and I’ve done it so much that all the years mesh up together. It was only recently that I moved away from my father to open this inn and bring the Vinima Brewery here.” Lelage gave a firm nod as she spied Ivan. “ What you’re drinking I’ve been fermenting for almost a good year now, it’s made of my finest hops and finest barley, there’s no lumps, thin foam, and it slides down nice—doesn’t it?” Lelage made a gesture with her pint before she drank it down, “ It’s a bit sweet too, but also dark. It’s a specialty I’m working on. Besides this inn, my brews are very, very important to me. My life’s work and devotion goes to every single keg, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.” As she refilled her pint yet again, suddenly her facial expression turned a tad sour. Ashamed to make eye contact in her pitiful state, Lelage focused her gaze at the roaring flames instead, “ I miss him so much. I try and visit as much as I can, but I just don’t have the time… I can’t possibly expect Fetch or Fran or anybody to run this inn while I’m gone. I feel as if I’m escaping my duties, you know? But I worry… my father wasn’t in the best shape when I left him. He’s getting old… I thought about bringing him here, but he’d only try and help, and he can’t afford to do that now…” Lelage closed her eyes, fighting her emotions. The thought of one day losing her father pained her so much, worse than a spear to the heart. With fists tight, the woman opened her eyes, narrowed and fierce at the flames as she refused to cry, the woman swooped up her pint yet again and guzzled the entire thing down in one messy go. Lelage felt the dampness of the slight spill on her linen shirt—she had worn a loose, linen shirt with string ties at the chest, much like a boy would wear growing up, tucked into khaki colored trousers, a typical work wear—and immediately dabbed at it with a nearby rag, her cheeks a bit redder than before, the tipsy was slowly kicking in. “ Sorry, I have horrible habits…” She half-heartedly apologized, refusing eye contact still, with cheeks red and swollen from the however-many-pints she had. NOTES: Have I mentioned how much I love these two? |

I will hunt you down... Ivan had to admit the way Lelage stared at him with such wonder, he felt almost as if he actually was someone special for a moment but he had to remind himself that he was far from the truth. Another thing that surprised him was how this petite woman downed Ale as if she was a thirsty wanderer stepping out of the dry deserts, he could not help but chuckle at the sight of such a small woman performing such tasks. When the girl spoke of his gift, he would not be able to feel a sense of flattery overwhelm him, she had actually called his gift beautiful? But her next words would fortunately sweep away the embarrassed feeling that was tickling at him, when he heard her speak of having Orik gift her with magical brewing powers. The man would chuckle happily slamming a large hand on the table, "...Now Lelage..." he said reaching for his cup of Ale, raising it up he gave the girl a wide grin "There's no need for Oirk to bless you with a gift of Ale making, I think he couldn't make it better himself!" he commented tilting his head back to perform the same task the girl had allowing the ale to splash into his welcoming mouth. Setting down the empty glass now the man would lick his lips, letting his taste buds pick up any traces of the ale that stained his lips.
It was then that they were given a vase with more ale in it, Ivan would respectfully wait for Lelage to server herself first while she told him the tale of her origins. Reaching for his own cup after he served himself, all the while giving her the respect she deserved, and catching ever word that escaped her parting lips. It would be then however as this conversation proceeded, he would notice the change in her tone; now he had not known Lelage very long in fact not even an entire day. However, Ivan had always been keen on picking up the moods of others, and this time around he could feel it she went from her usual cheery tone to a much lower, and less giddy tone in her voice. The golden eyes that where fixed on the girl could see that she was hurting, he understood such pain that was strung to family issues, he himself had such regrets that always weighed his heart down something heavy. When she explained the bit of her ale he raised the cup drinking from it some more before anything else, quietly he listened to the woman continue her story up to its conclusion.
The lack of eye contact told Ivan she was not herself, he would sit there for a while bringing up his cup to drink from it some more; the man set it down quietly, he would then smile at Lelage. "Then go see him" he commented to her suddenly it seemed so simple, and despite her excuses he just threw it out there, but he continued on "...ones family is the most precious thing they have to hold on to. You must never let it slip from your fingers, or one day..." the man would sigh, a soft smile making an attempt to hide his own pain. "One day you will open your eyes, and realize if you had tried harder, things could've been different..." he said to her, Ivan reached for his necklace that he wore pulling it over his head he would hold it in his large hand. Ivan then handed it to Lelage, "In my tribe, when someone makes you a promise they hand you an item of great worth to them to solidify their word..." Ivan would stared direct at Lelage despite her lack of eye contact with him. "This necklace, holds great meaning to me, and in handing it to you. I promise that I will do everything in my power so that you can be reunited with your father again. Whether I must bring him here, or I have to learn this business inside, and out to cover while you go visit. I do not care, you showed me kindness that goes beyond anything words can describe, you have shown me a lot Lelage. So I will repay you, by making your greatest wish come true, will find a way for you to be able to be with your father again. I promise" he said finally closing his statement as he held the necklace out for her.
The black strap was worn but sturdy, from the center of the necklace hung an onyx stone shaped like an arrow head with odd carvings engraved onto its surface...

LELAGE VINIMA
I would give all my fame for a pot of ale and safety.
|
The Little Inn Twin, deep brown hues blankly stared at the now empty pint within Lelage’s grasp. Her mind was in shambles, and the alcohol was definitely not helping. Innumerable thoughts raced her conscience: about her father, about her inn, about the stain on her shirt, and about how she acted in front of Ivan. It was a rare soul who would witness what he witnessed. Lelage was always good about keeping her emotions together, but then it wasn’t like her to have the time to relax like she was now. Before she met Ivan, her free time consisted purely of her sleep schedule, and a few drinks here and there. It was a treat to be able to sit down like she was with good company. Sadly, she had to go “all emotional” with her past (she didn’t even have a bad past, she just truly loved her father), but who knew she would feel as comfortable as she did around Ivan. Lelage lowered her head, her bangs acted as a veil for her face, and for once in her life she had no words. She merely waited either for her brain to register and tell her muscles to poor herself more ale, or for Ivan to speak. Luckily, it was the latter. “ Then go see him” It was a concise statement that held more power to its punch than expected. The woman lifted her vision to spot Ivan, the flames doing their little dance and the light decorating Ivan in spontaneous patterns. A heartwarming curve tugged at Lelage’s lips as she shifted her position in seating. “ Thank you, but-” She was going to finish with “it’s not that easy”, but Ivan kept on going. Like she did earlier that day when he shared his secret occupation, the woman listened wholeheartedly and watched eagerly as Ivan reached about his neck. Funny, she hadn’t noticed the necklace that adorned his features until that moment. As he spoke he lifted the accessory from his figure and offered it across the table. Lelage ogled silently at the little trinket, the alcohol preventing her from realizing what was happening at the moment. However, as Ivan continued, she slowly matched the pieces together. That necklace was important, he was making a promise, and in the end it would be a keepsake of that promise. Lelage would be able to see her father. Ivan finished his response only to be left with a blank Lelage. The woman continued to peer at the offering, slowly switching contact with the necklace and Ivan. She wasn’t sure whether to accept it or not. She felt a little guilty having the man bestow his treasured item just for her, but in the end she felt if she were to reject his gift, well, that he would persist in giving it. Still it was a pretty little gem, despite the string being a tad worn, but as a whole it was beautiful. To Lelage it reminded her of Ivan, a bit rough around the edges but deep down was stunning. The innkeeper hesitantly reached out her hand, Ivan’s easily dwarfed hers, and delicately took the trinket. “ I…” Lelage brought the necklace closer for inspection, “ It’s gorgeous, thank you. I’ll treasure it and I’ll keep you to that promise!” A bit of life erupted within the woman once more. “ That doesn’t sound like a bad idea… seeing how I know you can take care of the fields, I’ll just have to inspect your customer service.” Lelage gave him a teasing eye. For some reason she had a hunch that the man would be quite awkward around crowds. “ But before that-” Lelage lifted herself from her chair, squeezed out into the opening. She had intended to quickly go hug the man, but apparently she had enough to drink to falter her walking capability for she hit the table quite hard with her hip, snagged the leg of the chair with her foot, only to almost trip on the man. Thankfully she caught herself before anything embarrassing happened and straightened herself immediately, “ Well then.” Was all she mustered. After her little “show” she quickly ran to Ivan’s side, bent over and hugged the man, this time careful of his wound—funny how she had to be tipsy in order to—and gave a tight squeeze, his head in her arms. “ You could leave tomorrow, Ivan, but you’ll always be welcomed and have a home here. You can have any of the rooms upstairs that’s to your liking, just be sure to log it in the books at the front counter.” After a few seconds the lady released the man and attempted her best to return to her seat without another fiasco. Once she did, triumphantly, she resumed her eye contact with the man. Soon after, Lelage lifted the necklace over the crown of her head, and then gently rested it among her collarbone. Obviously the fit wasn’t the same as it was on Ivan, the pendant a bit larger in proportion on her frame from when it was on his, but still it was beautiful. And in that instance, all previous, worrying thoughts were gone and all Lelage could think of was enjoying the rest of the evening with her new friend. “ So!” She initiated, as she expertly slid her pint to her good hand, poured the vase with the other, and took another long gulp before she continued, “ Ivan. Have you any adventures to share? Any exciting moments while out on the hunt…” Lelage spoke in a deep, narrative manner. “ I wouldn’t be the Innkeeper if I didn’t ask for a story! Of course, I can share some tales of my own! Sadly, they’re not my own but from others who were interesting enough to share who passed through this inn.” It was going to be a long night of storytelling and ale, that was for sure. NOTES: I'm personally thinking Lelage would pass out drunk, but that' just me HEHE<3 |

I will hunt you down... When she accepted his gift he would nod at her as she took the necklace from his hand Ivan would smile at her listening to her every words, as she mentioned him possibly taking over for her when she was gone in reality that was what he had planned. He would chuckle a bit nervously thinking about how he would pull off customer service, he was not the nicest looking individual but he would at least give it his best shot. The man remained silent as he was about to explain the origins of the stone, when Lelage suddenly stood up he watched her curiously as she walked over, when suddenly the woman seemed to stumble. The golden eyed male would prepare his hands ready to catch her, even raising his butt off the chair for a bit; luckily Lelage was able to catch herself in time earning a sigh of relief from Ivan as he smiled shaking his head at her. Sitting back down he would suddenly feel her arms wrap around his head, embracing him she then began to talk to him explaining something that made the large man blush. Not because of the hug, but because of her words ever since he had woken up today it had been a back, and forth between these two it was almost as if they were competing to see who could be nicer to the other. Ivan would smile reaching up to rest one of his lare hands on the thin forearm that belonged to Lelage, he squeezed it gently as he shut his eyes his deep tone breaking into the atmosphere with a simple phrase, "Thank you".
When the hug was broken he released her arm allowing her to step away from him, once he was sure she made it to her chair in one piece he drank from his Ale again sipping the dark yet sweet drink with much delight from his taste buds. When the woman served herself more Ale, she began to ask him about stories the man would chuckle more than happy to share a story with her; he had just the one in mind. "The necklace you wear..." he paused as he raised the glass to his mouth downing the remainder of the ale, as if it would jog his memory of the story he was preparing to share with the girl. "...that stone comes from the scales of a very rare creature that lurks in the deepest caves of the wilds of Domhan Tir. In my tribe, it is known as one of the greatest trophies to hunt. At the age of sixteen I ventured into the cave, for three days I searched every inch, and corner of that cave trying to find where that creature was...on the fourth day I spotted it" he explained as he paused again his eyes closing, and his mind replaying the memory of that day. A much younger Ivan working his way through the deep darkness of a murky cave, holding nothing but a simple spear in his right hand, and a torch in the other.
"It emerged from the darkness roaring, and snapping at me. Its hiss echoed in the cave, its jaws threatened to tear me apart...after a long battle I found myself triumphant, I dragged the animal out myself. I walked back to my village with it rested over my shoulders, I admit a few times I wanted to eat it" he said with a chuckle. "But it was my rite of passage, when I returned to the village my father gave me the proudest smile I had ever seen on his face...that stone, is one of its scales" he said to her with a chuckle gesturing to the sharp scale the girl now wore. However, it would not take long for Lelage to simply doze off mid way through his story Ivan had shared an epic tale, and she had used it as a bedtime story to sweep herself off to her dreams....
Standing from his chair the man walked towards the girl, Ivan would reach down grabbing one of her arms to adjust her then using his other arm to scoop under her legs to craddle the small girl in his strong arms. With a smile he made his way to her room to put her down for the night, he would look for one of the vacant rooms, and call it his own for the night. With Lelage in bed, Ivan made his way to the stairs until he was stopped by someone he caught at the corner of his eyes, turning he would spot the blonde man from earlier...Fetch he believed was his name. The man was giving Ivan a piercing glare, to which Ivan only responded with a simple wave, and a smile "Uh...goodnight" he said blinking a few times then making his way upstairs escaping the awkward situation.
