you know what else is great? me. The talk of tech didn’t interest Miles so much. Orik had forbidden technology for a reason. It was dangerous. Especially since it attracted so much bad. If gangs controlled all of the technology, it wasn’t something he wanted to ever see. It only reinforced, in his mind, the rightness of Orik’s beliefs. Technology was fought over. It was dangerous. It had no place in the world. Well, maybe in other places of the world but none within Domhan Tir.
Miles listened to the man talk about his goddess Tamesis. She interested him because she’d only been around for a short time. For as long as he could remember, the walls had been solid around Zhadrah. The nation didn’t even have a name before she came along and took them down. Or if it did have a name, it was lost to history after Borim’s treachery. Even the story or Borim was shrouded in mystery. All Miles knew was that Borim had not been a kind god as the others and that caused the four to lock him away or kill him or whatever could happen to gods to make them disappear. Then the walls came up and it’s been that way for a hundred years.
“So, this goddess, you said she gives and takes away. Have you ever gotten something from her? What did you have to give up?”
