Tell it's me by the clamor now baby I like to tear up the street Okay, so trees were not as safe as she had originally thought - from her vantage point clinging to the side of the last place she'd landed Miyoko could see the fog following her path, along with something.... else? It looked a hell of a lot like shadow, but there was something off about it. Not anything that Miyoko could definitively pin down, but enough for her to know that making contact with the stuff was a bad idea. Considering how much damage the things at the are- fuck. That was it, that was what felt so wrong about it - it was the same unsettling feeling that Miyoko had gotten from Aggression, although on a completely different level, to the point that the comparison hadn't even registered at first. That thing had been a dumb brute, and considering that the other gifted fighters had been able to virtually cripple him without her even throwing much around in terms of firepower.... he'd lacked the sort of presence that this thing had. Ironic, considering that he'd been almost begging for attention during the debacle at the Rose of Orik and that this thing had yet to show any sort of physical form. So, back to the drawing board. Main question, could she hurt this thing? Something that she had asked herself only a few moments ago, but in light of the new information or rather, revelation, Miyoko wasn't so sure anymore, not when she took the pressure this thing was giving off into account. She highly doubted the two with the swords below were going to be much more than target practice for it - Aggression had pretty much crushed all opposition that came at him without gifts, and it was the thing's own pride and lack of intelligence that had gotten him crippled so early in. At the moment Miyoko could only think of three things she could do that might hurt it or at least buy enough time to get out of there before it could do whatever it was planning on with them - no, scratch that, four if she included simply running the fuck away. She could do that, right? Drop down and hightail it the fuck out of there before it got a chance to catch her with those tendrils or really do anything of the sort to slow her down? Yes, yes she was fairly certain she could. Hell, it was probably the smartest decision she'd make in several months. All Miyoko had to do was do what she did best... and leave the other two here to fend for themselves. Something that would most likely end in them trying to take this thing head on. Dammit. At the very least the guy down there seemed to be doing the best he could to prepare the spirit and take away any chance they might have had for a clean escape or a sucker punch, Miyoko had to give him that much. Stupid is as stupid does, and at the end of the day she'd much rather take life over pretty words and the kind of ego inflation that most people who fought for "honor" tended to thrive on. Unfortunately, though, the other woman below seemed to be buying into what he was selling, and that complicated things - Miyoko highly doubted that she was going to run if given the opportunity unless it was definitively proven that they couldn't win. Continuing to cling to the tree above, Miyoko would continue to silently mull over the possible options and reflect on how truly screwed they probably were until the fog began to move again below. There he was. So to speak, anyways, and it only reinforced Miyoko's feelings on their chances. Swords weren't going to cut it, what they needed was a priest from the city, someone able to bloc- ohgodfuckingdammit. Times like this, the Aquavian really, really wished that she paid more attention to shit when she traveled. Miyoko had been so focused on challenging one of those spirits out in the plains and so sure in her ability to outrun them or smash them to pieces that she hadn't even paid attention to what everyone else did to stay safe out there. It was a long shot at best, but assuming that this thing - Avarice, it just called itself - worked in even remotely the same way, those safe areas marked by Brynne were probably their best bet at escape, or at least buying enough time to come up with a better plan. Specifically, the ones that Miyoko had completely glossed over before and couldn't remember the locations of to save her own life in the very literal sense. She'd just have to hope that one of the two people below knew where they were, and that the closest one wasn't too far off. Before that, though... "Hey, you two, before you do anything stupid, mind giving me a second? You're not tagging smoke with swords." Miyoko called out, mild irritation at their willingness to risk a head on fight plainly evident in her tone. It might've been just as stupid as what they were doing, granted, but if there was one thing that Miyoko didn't like it was to leave unfinished business, and she always took the opportunity to tie up loose ends when she could. If it meant buying a few more seconds' worth of charge in the process, that was just a bonus. "Going to go out on a limb here - fuck it, pun intended - and assume you've got something to do with Septem and her winged monkey from back in Domhan Tir. Couldn't care less about the first, but I want to finish the fight from back then. Your pal, Aggression, he pussied out and had mommy break up the party." Miyoko started, turning her head to look at the fog the spirit had begun to mold to form an avatar of sorts. As she spoke, however, the woman would continue to build up her charge - assuming everything went to shit as it probably, inevitably would, there was an idea in her head that might give everyone a few seconds to run for it, and for her to ask at least one of the others below which direction to start running in. "So, what I wanted to ask was this. Where do I find big, dumb and ugly?" Charge: 52% Enhanced Strength/Agility/Reflexes as long as Charge remains over 5% |
