Etro had this carefree are about her and a warm smile dancing on her lips. Her question was answered by the man that had been here while she was singing and she had to admit he had a nice smile. “Thank you.” He made way for her to gather two glasses of his and then she moved to get the other mans. As she had reached over him, he complimented her voice; this actually made her smile broaden as she turned her head back to stare at him. Her hair would fall over her shoulder and she would look at him throw some lose strands. She held his gaze for a moment then replied. “My name is Etro.” Using her free hand she pulled the strands away from her face and straightened her body so she could address the other man. He handed her his empty bottle which Etro took and placed on the tray she held in her left hand. “I’m not sure if I will be singing any more tonight, we seem to have gotten quite busy and the owner is short staffed.” She tried to hide any rose in her cheeks from both these men’s compliments – she actually didn’t often work the floor so she wasn’t used to the patrons paying her compliments about her singing. “But, I can promise I’ll try.” She gave a warm smile to him “So, you both know my name, what are yours?” She stood there a moment, wondering how much time she would have to talk before the owner moved her along. |

Sylas found it almost unnatural the beauty standing before him. She had this loose, carefree wind about her, and it was refreshing to talk to her. The young man calmed, and regained his cool. Trying to get a grip to reduce the chances of saying something stupid though it didn't really matter. Sylas was a free man, and had woken up next women many times. Talking to girls was second nature, drawing them to his bedroom third. But all those women had interested him in a different way. This one was different for sure.
"Etro." He repeated, making sure he remembered it. "What a lovely name." He said, trying to smile smoothly but ended up smiling broader than he thought. Luckily she turned to Aaron so she didn't catch it. He would have forgotten Aaron was there again if she hadn't addressed him directly. As she talked to him Sylas watched her with his deep onyx eyes full of curiosity.
Her voice rang again and Sylas answered. "I'm Sylas Sage." He would wait for Aaron to answer as well before asking his final question before she had to keep moving. He saw her looking around for her boss. And it was obviously she was not going to be able to entertain the conversation much longer. "I hope I'm not being too forward Ms. Etro, but if it's alright with you, I'd like to buy you a drink when you get off work. I'd like a chance to talk to you when you're not so burdened with responsibilities." He would flash his signature warm smile in hopes he would draw her in to the offer. He was actually excited about it. He really did want to get to know her better.

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE ALWAYS EARNED Aaron looked between the beauty in front of him to Sylas. He watched Sylas’ tension leave to be replaced with an almost giddy air. He looked back at the girl, Etro, as he answered her question. “Aaron Grimior, of Aquavia.” He turned his gaze back to Sylas as the dark haired man asked Etro for a drink after her work. Aaron suppressed his urge to shake his head. He knew he wouldn’t be welcome to that outing so he needed an escape before Sylas grew annoyed with him. But for now, Aaron decided to remain seated to see what the girl had to say.
Aaron did need to leave soon before the day became too dark. He still needed to pick up parts for small machines the room he was renting drastically needed. A burner of some sort. A new latch for the window. Replacement pieces for the broken refrigerator. Some other nick-nacks that would be household items in Aquavia. But here in Hryst, it seemed that even simple machines weren’t always available in some of the smaller inns. Aaron wasn’t even staying in SilverScale inn. He’d found a much smaller and cheaper place to stay, though it had by no means any form of decent comfort to speak of. He had to make due with what he could build, which wasn’t much considering the amount of useful parts the markets had in this area. He had no other choice than to find pieces that might be compatible and make them fit. Not always the easiest of work but it kept him busy while he was stuck waiting for the ice to melt.

“Sylas Sage and Aaron Grimior…” She let the words roll off her tongue, tasting each syllable and placing a note to it so she could remember their names in case she ever met them again. “And from Aquavia, I have never left Hryst before…You should tell me what Aquavia is like sometime.” She didn’t realise how bold her statement was, she was too naive to even realise that a statement like that could mean an invitation for a date. But alas she smiled at them both and then turned to Sylas who had asked her a question. She had been asked to stay back after her shift before, this kind of question wasn’t really a new one to her and normally she would politely decline but she like his smile. He seemed like someone that was normally so sure of himself but right now it was almost like he was shy. She guessed that she could relate to that. On stage she was always so confident, she knew she could sing and she knew she could do it well enough to keep her in a job and the customers coming. “I guess I can, but I don’t drink.” She smiled sweetly at him. Somehow this sweet innocent girl had a date with the man called Sylas and a future date with the once called Aaron. Good thing she was unaware of what exactly agreeing to tonight and asking of the other meant. |

THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE ALWAYS EARNED Aaron smiled a bit at the girl when she mention speaking of Aquavia. “I would be happy to tell you about it when you are available.” He was slightly surprised she had asked for him to tell her about it, but it was by no means a disappointed surprise. He really would enjoy telling and showing her what Aquavia was like. He always kept his holographic projector tablet with him. It would be all too easy to show her as he spoke of his home.
He looked over at Sylas who had become even more excited. Etro answered his question with a response that Aaron knew he was not invited to, at least from Sylas’ side. He looked over the dark haired swordsman hoping that he would remember their conversation from earlier about women. He wouldn’t stand for it if Sylas did something to this girl after Aaron’s words. He sighed and slowly stood towering over the girl’s small frame. He nodded to Sylas. “It was a pleasure talking with you again Sylas. I just hope you keep our conversation fresh in your mind. Don’t drink too much.” His voice held a slight inflection hoping to keep everything straight within Sylas’ head.
He turned to Etro and bowed slightly. He pulled some coins out and put them on her tray with the empty cups. “And I hope to have a pleasant talk with you later about my home. And perhaps next time I’ll be able to arrive on time to hear you sing. The coins are for my drinks and a tip for your gracious company. Have a good night both of you.” With that, he turned and left the inn. He still had to go and get a few parts for the machines in his room. He started out toward the market once again not realizing that what, or more precisely who, he would find on his way back to his room would change the rest of his trip in Hryst and Domhan Tir.

Time passed slowly and Sylas found himself almost second guessing his offer. He sat at a bar stool with his back leaned against the wooden counter top facing the crowd of rowdy drunks. His eyes were narrow and bored. Any moment he'd find himself standing and leaving, but it would be rude to the lovely young lady to leave her waiting for him. So for now, he found interest in wiping the condensation from the glass of his drink which he didn't even finish. A sigh escaped his lips.
"The things we do for a little company." He scanned the crowd. There were less people here now than when Aaron left. But they were still loud and obnoxious as ever. Men fighting and being animals toward the few women present. His mind wandered to Aaron's sharp comment earlier about the nature of his words toward Etro. Had he really been so indulged that he had forgotten his respect? Maybe the man was right, Sylas needed to lessen his consumption.
All these things flowing through his thoughts were useless things to think about however. Things to keep him from dying of boredom. Maybe the young woman was actually taken back by Sylas' request, and had left stealthily to avoid him. An interesting possibility.
One last glance over the crowd would determine whether he stayed or not. He scanned the scene carefully. No sign of the girl from what he could see. With a long sigh and a shake of his head he threw some coins onto the counter, respectfully thanked the bartender and strapped on his blade. He was tired of waiting and started for the door.
