THE SUN'S GONE DIM, AND THE SKIES TURNED BLACK. ❝ In Aquavia, there were forces that not even laws could ever hope to reach and bring to justice. These were criminals with deep pockets: pirates, smugglers, mercenaries, the corrupt and many alike threatened the security of the citizens of this nation. The covert ops of the Night Raid were created for that reason – to instill fear of god in men whom arrogantly thought that they could get away with their heinous acts. To those who knew them, they were like bloodhounds. Once they had their eyes of the Night Raid watching them, then they were good as dead. Those who lived to tell the encounters with the colossal men and women in black armor and grinning helmets told acts of brutality and barbarism beyond inhumane. Some even went mad, cowering in their homes – never to come out again. However, there were those who were willing to push their luck, and those who pushed it too far had the attention of these silent guardians. It mattered little if they were careful for they had their eyes and ears outstretched beyond the borders of this great nation.
At night, death brewed like life in Aquavia, and in this particular night, they would be welcoming pirates and smugglers that were rampant on the harbors of their borders in large numbers. The special operations command wanted them out of the picture, but the two men whom were master minds behind this little operation caught their eyes and they wanted them in for questioning. For this reason, they would be sending out Night Raid, namely the ‘Bravo Squad’ and other guardian corps out on a joint capture mission. This was a chance for the Night Raid to show what they REALLY can do. For this reason, Damien would be expecting no less than the best out of his men tonight. This was HIS team, he was the one to lead them to victory. The Bravo Squad was famous for their hunts, though small, they were the spearhead of the reconnaissance forces. With that in mind, the soldier loaded a magazine into his assault rifle as soon as their transport came to a complete halt and its iron hulls opened up to reveal their battlefield. From their location, they could see everything.
With their leader, the Bravo squad was quick to get into their positions and blend into the shadows, just like how they practiced many times before.
“Bravo One to command, the Bravo squad is in position and have our eyes on our targets.” Damien spoke over the radio, “I’m counting forty heavily armed hostiles, four machine-gun placements and two VIP. Your orders?”

I see you... KEXIS RAGNAROK SPECIALIST - SNIPER NIGHTRAID CODENAME: GHOST
| There was nothing in the world that existed to her at this moment other than the throbbing sounds of the bird's jet engines, the rumble it exuted through the floor into the soles of her boots.. the way it synced with her heartbeat and her even breathing. Man's connection with machinery was a work of true wonder.
Her shoulders shuffled a bit underneath the lighter armor she wore - much thinner and smaller than the suits the front-liners of the Bravo Squad mates of hers geared up into. Why? Because she never dealt with up close and personal. No.. her job was to be quiet. Unseen. Invisible. Deadly to as many far-sighted targets as possible... All without a trace of her existence on the battlefield.
Kexis always had an air that just read 'closed to conversation'. She was leaning back against the wall of the bird among the rest of the squadmates, rifle tilted between her legs and against one collarbone - barrel up - and her arms folded across her chest to pin it there. Her eyes never drifted to the others.. but rather stayed dead-ahead to the opposite, gray wall.
She was focused and already beginning to calculate different things; the temeperature, the time of day, the weather, the environmental status that she'd read up on of the area they were being deployed to. Her skin showed minor signs of changing on the sides of her face.. ocasionally her eyes as well.. just to test herself in the familiarity of the textures and colors she'd need to use.
The landing gears at the bottom of their transport met the ground after a careful hover, the sides opening and the squad hopping out in near unison. Kexis immediately set her rifle to the ground for just a moment before undoing a strap around the neck of her suit - pulling a zipper down past the thick bullet-proof areas in the chest piece. They extended, opening up a few air vents around her shoulders as well as near her sternum, and seperated to let her fully slip out of the upper half of her uniform. She wore nothing but a black, razor-back bra underneath.. exposing her usual tan skin that she preferred to keep as an appearance.
Her neck cracked side to side as she reached back down for her weapon, her skin morphing inch by inch in quick succession with texturization. It was rocky, almost dusty, and her eyes became the same matching charcoal - her hair raven in tone. As she stood.. she was met with staring eyes. It seemed part of the squad, besides the Lieutenant, never got used to it. She huffed at their immaturity and rolled her eyes before turning away and beginning to walk towards her 'nest'.
It only took a few minutes before her bipod was perfectly set up and stationary - Old Yeller securing sand bags covered in black mesh nets for camouflage and setting them around her front before sitting back against one side. She didn't mind Yeller.. in fact, he was probably the one she got along with most of all. He was wise and experienced. Though a bit rash and quite the character sometimes, it was safe to say that she wasn't offended by him sitting by her as she would be by the others. Just wasn't a people person.. him and the Lieutenant both understood that more than the rest. Her eye locked down the site, fingers adjusting a few knobs to increase certain night visions. The battlefield was clear as could be now. Open and awaiting the whisper of her deadly sting. The air was cold.. but she didn't want to waste any energy changing her thermals this far away. Was pointless.

THE SUN'S GONE DIM, AND THE SKIES TURNED BLACK. ❝ The squad leader watched as his fellow squad mates gawked at the sight of Kexis taking off her armor. As soldier, he expected a little more maturity out of them since she needed to take it off to blend in with her surroundings. He had no idea why people of opposite sex could have so much fascination over their body parts. It wasn’t like it was anything shameful. People were born with them in the first place. Shaking his head, Damien walked up to each and every unsuspecting member and gave each of them a good whack to the head with his armored hand to get them focused for this mission, everyone except Kexis. In Night Raid, failure was not an option, and it was part of his job as their leader to make them focus on the task at hand. “Focus, all of you. The command will be sending us an encrypted transmission soon, so open your comm links and await further orders, is that clear?”
“Aw, you don’t make this fun at all, Lieutenant.” One of the armored figure whined in retort, “It’s not like we get to see pretty girls in Night Raid everyday like that…. We get way too many crazies and freaky-looking girls with crazy cybernetics. She’s the most normal-looking one in the division.”
“Don’t make me repeat myself, private.” Damien shot back with a darker tone, “Focus, unless you want leave here in a body bag tonight”
Soon after, the encrypted comm link inside Damien’s helmet hissed and fizzled to life as a familiar voice rang into his head as each members of his squad got into their positions. “Clear copy, Bravo One. We got a report that the Baem-sec team is working on killing the lights in the harbor for us. That will be the signal for your team and our own to get in there and flush ‘em out. This is just like we’ve practiced, ladies and gentlemen. Good hunting.” It seemed like the HQ thought this out well, they really must’ve wanted their target. He could only imagine what kind of information that they had that made the command wanted out of them so badly. Oh well, it was time to give their guests a ‘warm welcome’.
“Roger, HQ, awaiting signal from the sec team.” Damien nodded and turned to his squad as he touched the side of his helmet, “You heard the man. Night visions, people.”
“Bravo Four positioned, nest secured.”
“Bravo Three positioned, SAW ready.”
“Bravo Two and Five positioned. Awaiting on your orders to move in.”
bgm: combat 4 - xcom: enemy unknown
Soon after, the entire port went dark. Sound of sudden panic and confusion washed over the criminals, screaming at each other that they’ve been set up. However, they had little time to argue as series of thunderous gunfires and wall of bullets descended upon the bewildered criminals. In return, they fired back, but they had little visibility, making the members of the Night Raid especially difficult to spot and take aim at. All they saw myriad of faceless monsters with grinning teeths from the flashes of the gunfire. Already, their morale were starting to dwindle, some of them attempted to run, but were brought to a swift end by the members of the Night Raid scalping their head and skinning their faces, alive as they screamed in both agony and plea for mercy within the darkness. If they were lucky, they were immediately decapitated on spot, just like how headsmen of the Aquavia would execute the convicted. These men had nowhere to run.
“Bravo Four, keep focus on those machinegun placements on that ship! Bravo Three, put a suppressing fire at targets at our three!” Damien commanded as put his back against the cover, “Everyone else, move up to the shipyard, hunker down and prepare for boarding with the rest of the Night Raid squad! Go, Bravo Three and I got you covered!”

I see you... KEXIS RAGNAROK SPECIALIST - SNIPER NIGHTRAID CODENAME: GHOST
| Kexis couldn't remember a time when she cared about the exposure of her skin. It was a gift.. a gift best used for combat. A gift meant for the perfection of her work and nothing else. Well, that, and altering her personal identity to something she felt more suited to. Something that didn't look like any member of her family.. all pale-skinned, her red-headed mother and blonde father. She didn't think about Aegis, because he wasn't family. The thought didn't cross her mind. They'd gotten that tempation well out of her.The sniper took steady breaths, feeling the cold air sneak in and out of her lungs, allowing her veings to pulse with healthy bloodflow from the gentle and synchronized beats of her heart. Rule one as a sharpshooter... stay calm. Always calm. And nothing else. It was a state of mind, a state of body and spirit. More than just some emotion - a practiced 'being' and an unbreakable wall when perfected. Not unlike a muscle.. the harder you pushed it, the stronger it would become the next time around.Command buzzed in each one of their ears but the answer was left up to the Lieutenant to voice. When he did so and began to take his first steps forward, Kexis locked her fingers around the bolt at the side of her large rifle, pulling it back into place and flipping a small switch that squealed with a high-pitched noise for only a second as the night vision within the scope activated to the fullest of its abilities. IRNV.. heat signatures readable from the 16x scope that she'd attached to the top slide. Yeller gave her a pat on the shoulder, something she didn't dislike (or she would've said something), and went on his way into formation.Lights out... immediately the arena lit with gunfire from the panicked soldiers and workers below at the docks while the rest of the Bravo squad made quick work of their first targets. And the ones after that.. and the ones after that. But heavy fire soon made it difficult to move."Bravo Four, keep focus on those machinegun placements on that ship!" "Sir," she answered with a low and relaxed tone - the barrel of her rifle tilting only slightly as she saw the burst fire flash in the scope at the side of the ship that had docked. 3...breath...2...breath...-PHNK-. The silenced bullet slid through the air, directly through the small slit of the body shield attached to the mounted gun, and straight into the forehead of its user. Next. "Clear left side from heavy fire, 8 to 11 o'clock," she updated them of their available paths - giving the second gunner a quick end as well.. his side slightly exposed and now with a hole in his heart from entry of his upper ribs. "Clear front side.. 12 to 3 o'clock." Next--wait. She thinned her eye down the sight, reading larger heat signatures that began to move under the water right by the ship's bottom hull. "Bravo One- Bravo Four. Eyes on unidentified moving targets, large, slow, under the surface at your 3. Heat signatures reading barely above sea temperatures." They were hard to pinpoint.. but they were visible. "Orders, sir," she requested, pulling her bolt back again and restocking a few of her near hand-lengthed bullets.
