you know what else is great? me. What a great predicament to be in. Three wolves playing with a small, helpless field mouse and Miles just had to get into the middle of it. Now, the three wolves were after him for ruining their fun. He held his shield out carefully in front of him watching the three wolves circle around to try and get a better point of attack at him. His sword was already stuck a foot into a tree so it would take too long to get it out to fight. Instead, he had to rely on his shield to keep him safe. And that was a farce in its own.
One of the wolves lunged at him to which he held his shield up to block it. Another came from his left and bit down on his arm. He shouted and spun a bit knocking the one off his shield and tossing the one on his arm off. Both landed a little ways away but quickly jumped back up to reattack him again. He was bleeding from different injuries he’d gotten during the fight. His pants now needed even more patches as they were ripped up from the teeth and claws. And what’s worse, he didn’t really think he could actually fight off the wolves.
The little field mouse shook in his hood laid down at his back. He’d at least been able to save it from a grim fate of being a toy for the wolves’ amusement. But if he didn’t find a way to fight them off, it might not even matter. “Don’t worry little guy. I’ll keep you safe.” He looked at the three wolves who were now circling around him again. He gulped a bit. “I hope.”

WHEN THE MOUSE FIGHTS BACK
Zero had been moving through the forest tree-tops with such a speed that for someone without her knowledge of the forest would surely break a bone in their body or impale themselves on a branch. She was moving quickly for she heard a scream a little was off and the howl of wolves not to long after. It was clear as day that someone was in trouble and she only hoped she would reach them before it was too late. The closer she got the louder the wolves snapping jaws became until finally Zero found herself looking down on a rather interesting scene.
She actually thought it was a girl that was in trouble from the scream she heard but as it turned out it was a blonde hair boy with a shield. She looked around the area and noticed that a sword was wedge in the side of a tree. “Such a waste” she jumped from the branch she was perched on and drew her weapon landing, with deadly accuracy she landing on one wolf, her blade drawn through the beast to kill it as swiftly as she could for she know her weight on it would have broken its back when she landed. Pulling the blade from the wolf she grabbed the black long ribbon that was attached at the end of the hilt with her other hand. She was a few feet from the other two wolves who now had turned on her for killing one of their pack.
Zero bared her teeth at them just like they did to her, it was enough for them to charge her but Zero was fast – pushing her weight off the balls of her feet she jumped up and released her blade letting it fly out. The blade was launched at the closest wolf to her before she pulled on the ribbon ripping the blade from its torso and slicing out its shoulder only to wedge itself into the other wolf as she landed in front of the boy. There was a yelp behind her as she pulled the ribbon and forced the weapon back into her right hand, catching it and flicking the blood off the blade. From the way she had spun her weapon around her body, some of the wolf’s blood had flicked across her face and now that she looked down at the boy she only stared at him before holding a hand out to help him up.

you know what else is great? me. It was looking worse and worse. The wolves weren’t about to let him go. He needed a miracle or he wasn’t going to make it out of this. No sooner had he thought about needing a miracle then a woman simply appeared from the trees to kill all three wolves as if they were nothing. Miles stared at her as she took all three of them out. He held his shield in front of him with his mouth slightly open staring at her. He looked at her hand before slowly reaching out to take it and let her pull him up.
“Uhm… thanks, I uh, needed some help.” He noticed the blood across her face but couldn’t find it in himself to mention anything. Especially since she’d just saved him from being eaten. He slowly put his shield down and slid it around so it rested on his back. He finally looked away from her when he looked around for his sword. Being careful not to touch her, he moved over to it and started working on getting it out. It slid out after a few seconds and he checked the blade before sliding it into the sheath.
A squeak sounded from his hood reminding him how this whole thing started. He reached back to grab the little rodent. It looked around before up at him and squeaked again. “You’re okay now little guy. Those mean wolves are gone. Thanks to this… uhm… skilled woman.” He turned back to her before bowing his head a bit. “Thank you again. I’m Miles, Guardian Shield in training.” He looked back at the field mouse before kneeling down to set it on the ground. “You’re free to go somewhere safe. Just stay away from wolves.” As he stood back up, the mouse scrambled to his leg and started crawling up the outside of his torn up pants and into a pocket. He looked down at his pocket. “Not sure if I constitute as safe so much but alight.”
