Orik listened to the steady heartbeat as the young child finally was cleared of fear and suffering. He was at peace, his internal rhythm syncing up with the world around him and creating a balance. Perfect. That balance would be needed to control the light that was so easily a destructive force.
"...Patience. You must have patience. A seed must take root and sprout before it can one day call itself a tree... But a seed is with a shell to protect it from harm and so too do you need a special shield. However... what I am about to give to you... you must make a solemn vow..."
Slowly he pulled his head back and looked into the young man's eyes with his own brilliant orbs that seemed to be looking into everything at once and reflected the balance of the universe in their dark pupils. This was not a gift to be taken lightly; Orik knew that if the boy ever turned his back on what Orik was about to say or traded away the pendant, he would have to intervene... and sacrifices might be inevitable...
"... This amulet is made of something very precious." As he spoke his antlers glowed and a slim gold chain hung down from the branch like appendages, a small lump appearing on the end of the chain and seeming to mold right before Asher's very eyes, becoming more and more intricate in it's design by the second. "...Though it is not something that humans are familiar with, it holds my divine blessing. I will grant you this pendant, and it will suppress and balance your ability so long as you wear it, until the day you understand the ebb and flow of the light and how to direct it properly."
The chain slid down and landed loosely around the boy's neck, the amulet glowing a faint green before solidifying into a curling, twisting branch not unlike the antlers atop Orik's head.
"...However... there are certain rules that apply should you accept this amulet, Azreal... It is with a heavy heart that I must command that so long as you are in possession of the amulet... you may not leave this country's boarders... or I will have to issue divine punishment. What's more... You may not cast the amulet off to anyone but me. You have every right to return it to me but... it is never to be in any other human's possession, not even for a small amount of time. It must always stay with you. My final condition is this, your training will be centered in the ideals of the old sword of defense, and never will you train your ability as purely offensive. The power gifted to you is a great one, and with honing, will become very deadly. Keeping the balance will be a heavy burden."
