UPDATE : POWERS AND GIFTS There has been a little confusion as to what kind of powers will be approved by Orik, therefore, I have decided to clarify exactly what is going on in the mind of dear Orik. I don't want to put too many boundaries on powers, mind you, but I'll do my best to give you a foundation of what is easily acceptable. ORIGINS OF POWERS: Every power in all of Domhan Tir is given by Orik. That's it. All of them come from him. There are no other options; no mechanical amplification or ritual or insignia based magics without Orik's specific blessing. None. Now, Orik can offer a bloodline trait to a family who has shown loyalty or exemplary service (case in being, his determining who would be Lord of Domhan Tir, which he himself got to name and the title was passed on from that one person Orik named.) However, there are provisos to these "bloodline traits." - The power follows all other rules set forth by Orik.
- The gifted must swear an oath of loyalty to Orik and his Constructs in order to keep their abilities into the age of understanding or adult hood. Many of these oaths are ritualistic, but it is Orik who gives the gift, not the ritual.
- Should the gifted ever use the gifts in ways that do no represent Orik's ideals, he will retract the gift immediately. You can use this as a plot point if you so chose but keep in mind, using one of Orik's gifts to raid, pillage and plunder will not sit well with him and he will not stand for it.
LIMITATIONS OF POWERS :One Person : One Power If you make one character for Domhan Tir, you have one scope your powers are in, kind of like an element or affinity. You can only have this one affinity. Example: If you are granted the gift of Green Thumb where you can make anything grow green and lush, you won't be able to add on any gift outside of growing plants. So you can't fly or grow yourself fifty feet or breath fire; just plants. However, you will be able to add branches to your ability, like going from only being able to grow basic plants to ones with spectacular abilities. The strength of each power will be still mortal. You do not rival the Gods with any gift, no matter what it might be, because the Gods are trying to keep another Empire catastrophe from happening. Hence the dividing of powers among individuals. Orik, however, limits the strength in another way as well. Orik does not want powers that will drastically alter ecosystems to become a problem because of Domhan Tir's tumultuous past. To avoid any more blight problems, all abilities that enhance the ecosystem are rounded out so that they boost but do not overthrow the balance. Fighting abilities that are purely offensive are difficult because of the Constructs, which specifically say, do not wage war on any living thing. However, because of plot happenings (there was actually a thread where Orik agreed to do this) Orik will be accepting fighting based abilities if they are well balanced and realistic in expectations. However, Orik will be carefully judging the hearts of the people these types of abilities are given to; he will not grant a violent gift to an overly aggressive personality because fire and gasoline are not friends. Please keep this in mind when requesting these kinds of abilities. ~*~*~*~*~*~ I believe this is the only stipulations that I have. If someone brings something to my attention I will correct this. Thank you very much.
