the sea and I are one three hundred and ninety five opener | The sea. No matter how much time Neviah spent on it, she could never get over its beauty. Who would with how immense and rich it was? Even so the maiden, commonly called ‘The Queen of the Sea’ by some would be taking a dip in the waters around the area near her home. Of course this didn’t beat the waters over in Aquavia but it was close enough. She had to stick around since she was expecting visits.
The swim would actually end up taking longer than what she originally had planned, actually noticing the sun’s position and heading back home. The girl would swim into part of her abode that was submerged as her body slowly shifted from mermaid to human, starting to reach up to the point she could step out. Neviah would sit in what seemed to be stairs before reaching up for a towel, covering her form for a moment to dry herself off. Usually when she shifted her clothes would adapt to it so she would more so work on drying her hair more than anything else.
Barefoot, the girl made the way across the halls of the place she called home most of the days before reaching for her room. She needed to change out of the wet clothes and as such she would reach a wardrobe she had, pulling out a light blue pastel dress with no sleeves and that reached knee length. Taking a moment, Neviah would start to change into it, checking herself on a mirror before nodding to herself and making her way out to the halls once again. The abode wasn’t too big but required some walking back and forth to get things done.
She’d reach for the main entrances and walked out, her feet hitting the sand before she would smile. No matter how much she tried to deny it, her home had the most soothing aura to it. Walking across the sands, Neviah reached the margin of the water and walked along it for a bit before she reached a rocky formation. It was an odd formation, almost seeming to have been crafted into a seat. With a small jump, she’d sit on it, the breeze hitting her hair as she watched the waves quietly, as if expecting someone to show up any moment now, a small smile crossing her lips. | |

There was a calm in the sea as the waves crashed onto the shore of the small island. As calm as the waves were, there was a mysterious feel to them, as if there was something there, hiding in the deep blue. The waters were cool to the skin and for a majestic blue whale, such a feeling made it feel at piece. There was a school of fish that followed behind the creature, moving with uniformity. Something about the whale was strange, but only the one it was going to would recognize that much. In this realm where the gods dwelt, animals moved in accordance to their presence, and it was a place absent of those mortals that they watched over.
The magnificent and large sea creature was an appearance taken on by a particular God of Aquavia who had decided to make a trip. It was important that he traveled in such a form, for apart from it being a relaxing mode of transportation, it was telling to one called the ‘Maiden of the Sea’. This maiden was a modest goddess that had a deep connection with the waters of the mortal realm. It was with her assistance that the god got things done, problems a wild Jag did not excel in. Dym loved his brother, but he wasn’t the mastermind in the family, and frequently misunderstood the maiden. It was fine however, the older brother had chosen her for his own personal reasons and knew the country he watched over was aided by Neviah Athen.
The whale bellowed a cry to mark his entrance, turning into a completely dry human male with red hair and heterochromatic eyes. It took a moment’s breath for him to appear behind the fair demigoddess as she laid in her seat, her frame fitting perfectly in the carved out structure. It had been a little while since Dym had the opportunity to be with her directly, it was sometimes easier to send message. The man was smart though, he knew he had to maintain this relationship and keep it as it had been from the start, having her serve him directly to speak to his people on his behalf. The man bent down and whispered “So, how are my people doing?” he seemed to ask this question in this manner often, but each time was the same. He was serious with his question, the gods had the ability to watch, but having their people believe in his beliefs were more important. Hell, he wasn’t one to care about being worshiped.

The girl heard the cry of the wale, a bit of an eager smile crossing her lips before she would close her eyes for a moment. Well he was here; she had nothing to fear… most the time she had bigger issues fearing those dreaded marine hunters or the goddamned sharks at times. It was rare the time she spent around Dym, to as much as it saddened her deep down in her heart she knew they both had different obligations, not to say she was just a mere demigod, not a full divinity like he was.
Even so as he suddenly appeared behind her, the girl would slowly close her eyes a bit “The people are fine, my lord. They prosper and keep on pushing for more advancement in your name…” she’d say, being honest with the answer, even if at times the way they performed advancements when it came to the marine wildlife was crude, she couldn’t honestly just flat out tell them to stop, even if she could offer to help if asked. But for the most part people just saw her as a pretty little face and not the smart woman she really was… Well someday she’d have the real chance to show them she could indeed aid them. But everything needed its time.
Slowly, Neviah stood up from the rock, her feet brushing against the warm sand before she’d turn over to look at him with a soft smile on her lips “Now I must ask you, what the reason is for today’s meeting?” she asked. Of course there was always a reason for them to meet, since she knew that most the days she wasn’t even here but down in the mortal seas, exploring and checking up on progress for him. Rare were the times they spoke face to face and she loved those little moments. Of course she never told him, or anybody for that reason. Neviah had a bit of a bad habit of seeming emotionally detached from most emotions unless one was to catch her off guard after all.

Dym's eyes looked upon the beauty as she sat, waves crashing against the rocks beneath. He was happy to hear that things in his ocuntry were going well, he considered Aqauvia to be his finest masterpiece. Neviah's abilities helped the country run smoothly and her speaking to the humans cut out that bit of work for Dym.“That is good to hear. I suppose I made the right choice in acquiring you as my source of communication to the mortals” he spoke with a stoic look, but there was a glint of content in his eyes. Dym was never one to show that much emotion, but when he did show something subtly, he had hoped people would pick up on it.
Neviah asked the divinity about the reason for his visit. The man looked into her eyes before he spoke“Well, since everything is running smoothly, my reason for being here is more simplified in a sense. I merely came to see what suggestions you may have for our advancement” he said. The human male form Dym took on was dressed in a revealing black kimono, but the material in itself looked elegant and had a certain sparkle to it. He floated down from the rock and let his bare feet hit the sand, before he looked back at the goddess. “Come now, we have many things to discuss” he said with a smirk on his face and a lustful look in his red eye. Dym wasn't evil but there were times where he may be perceived that way when in this form. Still, it was nice to be like this every once in awhile.

The girl would sigh a bit “Dym, you know it’s a danger for me to go near human males most the times. I’ve had I don’t know how many propositions of undying love and things of the sort… As long as I don’t sing its usually fine however,,, I've tried my best to follow your wishes to the letter so I hope you are pleased with my progress” she’d say, lowering her head before slowly walking with him inside. It wasn’t the first time he’d been here but most things didn’t change in the home that looked more like an ancient temple one would be bound of finding underwater of sorts. They’d walk through the main hall over to the area with a few loungers, the girl refraining from looking at Dym for a bit.
A talk? Yeah usually that meant him making advances on her again and like usually she would refrain from accepting them. In her mind she was his speaker and messenger so she deemed such things a bit inappropriate for the most part. Of course that didn’t help errant thoughts and images of how it would be to share an intense lustful moment with the man whom had given her more chances to help the seas she loved so much.
Neviah would motion over for him to sit wherever he wanted with a smile “Can I get you anything? Food, anything to drink?” not like they needed nourishment like mortals but she did have a few things around in case he did want anything. Slowly the girl would sit and then laid on her side in a lounger she was known for fancying since she had gotten the temple, mostly one of the few places she rested in besides that bed in her bedroom she had. Even so she would smile a bit, adjusting her dress a bit to cover her legs up to her knees with a small dignified smile, waiting to see what did he want to talk about

Dym took her rejection well, for it was not the first time he subtly tried to hint at or make moves on her. Sure the human males had no choice but to be attracted to the beauty, but being the god that he was, he considered himself special in that regard. As if his attraction outweighed those of a million. Still, the constant denial led him to believe he just had to come up with new approaches. When she finished speaking he looked at her “Then I suppose you dislike this form then? That’s a real shame” he woul say with the lustful look on his face that faded in a moment’s time. As he wriggled his toes free of the sand, they enter the old temple.
The place may have appeared to be in ruins, but it was where Neviah took refuge when she was not out doing the man’s work. Dym was obviously familiar with it, so he chose a lounger to sit on at random. He put his arm on the arm of the seat and rested his head on his hand as he looked at her. “I would enjoy a bit of tea, if you have” he said. The man sure did love his tea, it was the one thing he drank more often than not and when one considered that divinities did not necessarily need to eat or drink, it became clearer how much he enjoyed the beverage. “It sounds like the human males of my land cannot see the intelligence you have past that pretty face” he commented on her earlier rant. Dym found Neviah to be the most intelligent of all the demigods, the reason he chose her in the first place

The girl shook her head “I don’t hate this form. I am happy I have it or else the moments we share like this wouldn’t happen often… if at all.” she’d say before slowly getting up, making her way to a nearby room to prepare him some tea. She’d take about five minutes before returning with a small pot and a cup for him to drink the tea in, placing it in front of him with a smile “You need to remember, every mortal has its flaws… While Aquavia is a nation of thinkers, they can’t help it if basic instinctual needs make them oogle at a pretty face… who’s got the intelligence to back it up too” she’d say before slowly starting to move away, hearing his comment.
Neviah froze; blushing a bit as she slowly looked over to him with a little blush. At times resisting to not be flustered by his comments was hard, and even as she tried to deny it more, it just made her feel a bit odd at times, like a little burst of butterflies deep down inside her belly. The girl would reach for a pillow, placing it by the lounger he was sitting at and slowly kneeled down, her bright blue eyes looking into his mismatched ones as she smiled “Takes a great man to see that I’m more than just a pretty face…. That’s why I am fond of you instead of Jag…” she’d say with a smile before crossing her arms on the edge of the lounger and leaned her head on them, her eyes closing a bit as she smiled.
Even so Neviah still wondered “You came here to try and ask me the same thing you ask every time we meet in person… Did you not?” she’d ask softly. Neviah was indeed more than a pretty face, she was smart and cunning, and at times a bit of a little trickster. But the first two traits is why she deduced he had asked her to be his speaker in the end.

Dym was pleased by the simple fact that she cherished their encounters in their human-like form. They were certainly without flaws unlike the mortals in which they watched so carefully, at least they did not have the same flaws. It was certain to Dym that his brother Jag had a few flaws of his own, but none of them compared to the types of imperfections of normal beings. His different colored eyes watched as she floated to her kitchen to prepare the tea. It did not take long for the slight aroma in the air to reach his nostrils, it was a soothing smell and he couldn’t wait to have the hot drink. After a couple of moments, he looked around the room and just let the overwhelming peace of the place flow through him before she came back in.
The flustered look on her face was enough to make the man smile ever so slightly. He was aware the comments he made would have an effect on normal women, but it was more fulfilling that it made Neviah blush. Then man grabbed the teacup, putting his index through the hole before casually taking a sip, his self-esteem slightly elevated by the thought of her placing him in high regards. It was to be expected of course, seeing as their relationship was that of a god and his speaker. Still, Dym looked upon her with more preference than the other divinities did to their speakers. It did not take long for Neviah to see through him, her intuition was the one thing that the god respected and admired more than anything. “I suppose I cannot slip a thing past you…” the man said before placing his lips on the edge of the cup for another couple sips. “So, what do you say about becoming my wife then?” the god was dead serious, though it would be easy to see it as a joke. Granted, this wasn’t the first time he proposed to her. The two spiritual beings were odd like that.

The girl closed her eyes, chuckling a bit before looking up “You’re either getting tired of trying regular advances on me or just getting plain desperate… I vote for the first one seeing that a man like you has at least a few dozens of mortals and some other demigoddesses lusting for him” she’d say before her eyes stared directly into his. Even so this usually meant a game between the two until she usually turned him down fully… But lately Neviah had pondered what would happen if she did not turn him down; her little curious side was taking over.
Slowly standing up, she’d look at him with a smile on her lips as she heard those words. He really would risk such a thing with her if she said yes, joke or not, she had known Dym long enough to know when he was serious, even behind a simple joke “You would risk divines know what to marry a simple demigod, Dym?” she’d say before slowly turning around and looking over to the path to her room. She had kept something hidden in there for the precise time she’d feel okay with showing him. The girl then looked over and turned slightly to him “…hm… Let me think about it… For a moment….” She’d say before walking off to her room “I will be back… I promise~” usually when Neviah promised something she never broke her word.
Walking into her room, she’d swing the doors of her wardrobe open and looked over her dresses. Man for a demigod she had a lot of wardrobe to her but it was mostly gifts Dym left her. Usually it was when she came home after doing her duties, she’d find a box with something new. The girl looked over then and pulled out a dress in particular. It was long, covered the feel but left her arms exposed, two straps decorated with seashells, one over each shoulder and a rather exposed cleavage. She didn’t mind the dress however, she just… picked never to wear it. She knew that wearing this particular dress meant she’d at least let him have a chance with her.
The girl would smile and slowly reached behind a screen and started to change, keeping quiet for the most part. After that she’d go over and brushed her hair and reached for a pearl necklace she’d made a while back with some pearls she’d been given by some marine fauna with a beautiful shell in the middle in tones of white and mixed shades of blue, much like the tones of her eyes. Before long she emerged from the room, standing by the door frame and looked over “Sorry to make you wait…” she’d say softly before talking again “…I decided to give you a chance Dym… As much as I say I don’t want to, I’d be lying to you… Besides always being alone does get a bit boring” she’d say with a smile before looking at him “But before we… talk further about this or do anything… Is there anything in particular you wish me to tell the people of Aquavia next time I go out to meet them? I am your voice to the people after all” she’d say with a bit of a professional tone. To Neviah first came her duty as a Speaker, then the rest.

Dym averted his eyes as she spoke of his encounter in the past. The god sure was dangerous in that regard, this much was true, but those reactions were nothing more than to fulfill his urgent desire to keep his head focused on the more important things. The type of things a god could do were better left to the imagination, but he was serious about wanting Neviah above all. She had both qualities that drew him too her: beauty and intelligence. There were other things such as her dutiful manner or her craftiness that kept Dym pleased, but all of these things could be broken down to the simple fact that he had an emotional attachment to the young maiden. His eyebrows were raised as she stood up and smiled, though he fully intending on sticking with it. She went on about the risks of such a thing, but Dym had already thought of the loophole in the standard relationship between god and speaker. So long as the boundary was there and the mortals knew not about it, it should've been fine.
Neviah disappeared from his visage but returned before long with a dress truly made for a maiden of the sea. He recognized it to be one of his presents right away, and he put an elbow on the couch as he rest his head on his elevated fist a smirk on his face as he took in the look. Dym had deduced that she had taken him into a more serious consideration and not turning him down for a change. She answered happily and after another sip of his tea, he heard her go on about what to tell his people. Neviah truly was a dutiful Speaker of Aquavia. The man set the cup down as he stood up and placed a hand on her face caressing her cheek with a touch. He then whispered in her ear"You're a very smart Neviah, you understand how I dominate the situation" and he pulled away. "Tell them you are more than just a pretty face. Go to more of their women and tell them there will be a few among their females that will prove to be more intelligent than they think" he said, knowing Jag, he wouldn't mind having the country shift to more freedom and recognition of females, more to balance out the ratio in the council soon enough.
