loose lips sink ships
Darkness and a headache greeted Shinonome Morgan, as they always did. Hangovers were such naughty little things, and they normally started with her face digging into a pillow. Though, other senses greeted her, that weren't normally there. First would be a strange adhesive paper that covered her mouth, the second would be rope very tightly wrapped around her wrists and ankles, and the third would be the cloth that was tied around her face to make it so dark. Maybe she got kind of kinky last night? However, probably the most dangerous sense that came by was the smell of foreign wood and gunpowder, and the voices of pirate slang.
Damn it, she didn't get lucky. And she was so eager for a little morning fun, too...
So, she'd been kidnapped. By pirates, probably, and the fact that she wasn't dead or raped meant that they needed money due to low ammunition and normally, that required a hostage. After all, can't plunder a town without weapons, so just get one person, and a non-raped person normally meant more value. She took a sniff, being careful not to move from her position. Sea salt, rats, and alcohol. She's probably in the bottom hull, wasn't she? Now they just needed to get to the main city (she remembers having a night out in a place that wasn't Aster), and intimidate the Navy station with the unconscious body of one of their most powerful Captains.
Yeah, not going to happen. Quietly and calmly, she applied water pressure to the ropes using the sweat on her wrists and loosened them enough to slip out, and did the same with her ankles. A 'boom' echoed from the ceiling, and she paused in her movements. ...nobody came down. The captain resumed the attempt to get free, and ripped off the tape from her mouth as well as the blindfold.
Step two when kidnapped: find your personal belongings, by force or not. Personally, she liked this step, because it normally meant that she could have some fun. Sadly, this was not the case that day. The blonde found her hat next to her body, and Ave Maria in a locked chest under the stairs to the next floor, and rolled her eyes at the sheer incompetency of the outlaws. Putting on her headwear (which was robbed dry of it's hidden alcohol content, and brought a hidden tear to her golden eye), she blasted a hole in the chest lock, checked if anyone noticed, and opened the chest, retrieving her main weapon.
She froze as people upstairs spoke. "'Ey, are we near port?" "Ye. I'm checkin' on the bitch, makin' sure she ripe for paradin' in fronta dem fuckin' knights." Gripping her sword solidly, she waited for the man to come down the stairs. A scratchy man, lanky, and with more than a few fleas on him. Hu- MMPHPHPHMMH!" The hollowed blade of Ave Maria went into his spine and out his stomach, the captain's free hand muffling his noises. The sword then tipped upwards, and he was impaled further as the hilt held him midair, where his feet couldn't hit anything. He struggled for a bit futilely, air pressure impeding any wild flails, before falling unconscious with a very large puddle of blood under him. Trained hands set his body quietly on the ground before pulling the blade from out of his guts. As the pirate bled to death, the captain went off to blow a few holes in the ship, starting with the leftmost back of the boat.
Being in the hull had it's advantages. First, you could easily find the areas of weakness and exploit them without anyone noticing. Based on the bob it had, he ship seemed to focus it's balance on four points, with two points on each side. One near the front, one near the back. Additionally, the walls of the ship were REALLY thin, only enough to go around shore before breaking apart a bit. The cherry on top was that this was a fairly small pirate ship, and wasn't sturdy enough to do more than tire her out a bit. It was comparable to a commercial boat, really, and that was just sad. Before, she exhausted herself to all hell from blowing multiple holes in her first ship, which was experienced and powerful, without any intellect at all; this wouldn't be the case here. She readied herself; pirates were going to come rushing in from the blast she was about to make. With her blade facing the staircase, she rested her palm on the wood and pushed inwards, using water pressure to come in instead of air pressure to come out.
It had more efficiency than her days as a kid, and worked perfectly. As shouts of confusion and realization roared upstairs, the blonde rushed to the right side, and blew another hole. Sea water from the three holes were pouring in quickly, and was already up to her waist. Two pirates came bursting in, and tripped on the dead body of their friend. She sprinted towards them, quickly stabbed them where their hearts would be, and promptly blew her third hole in the ship in the upper right corner of the room. Footsteps ran up to her before, out of instinct, Shinonome parried a scimitar coming from above her. The pirate that attacked staggered, and she rushed forwards, put her blade to his throat and sliced. Blood splattered across her face and dirtied the sea water that was to chest as she laid her hand on the plank wall and blew the fourth hole in the hull.
Now she was swimming. Using water pressure, the pressure manipulator jetted out of the hole and towards the surface as the ship she was previously being held in began to sink. Like a speedboat, her head was above the water when the rest of her body torpedoed towards shore, still focusing on the fallen pirate vehicle that was half-submerged. It seemed that they did get to the docks, after all; a bunch of bystanders had their eyes widened at the screams of thieves, and some more experienced navy men just looked on calculatingly. Young recruits whispered amongst each other, "Was that a pirate ship?" "The Hydra is coming out of it!" "She must have sunk it, it's the Hydra!"
She was famous for a reason, was she not?
The Hydra of the Hyrst Navy slowed down her water pressure motorboating and swam safely to shore, where several seamen came upon her. They asked what happened, and who they were. "Apparently, a bunch of pirates wanted to hold me for ransom," She started before giving a smile. "but nobody can take Shinonome Morgan and get away with it."

Charlie sat on a roof by the docks looking down at a letter in his hands. It was from Laina. It had come the previous morning from a dove, her usual way of sending communications to him. It was safer and easier than a regular courier. After all, the both were wanted in parts of Eastern Hryst. A courier would be an easy way for them to be found and captured. He was just glad that no one knew his actual name in the East, only his nickname. He read over the letter one more time. His daughter had started learning to read and write. She was smart, really smart. It gave him hope that she’d have a better chance in life. As much as he liked thieving, he hoped his daughter wouldn’t have to live like that. He only partly regretted leaving her with Laina but he knew he didn’t have much of a choice. He wasn’t ready to be a father, he was still a teenager. At least he could still take care of her sending money whenever he had it.He stretched and folded the letter up. He liked hearing from Laina. He’d spent a lot of time with her and there were times when he missed her. It just wasn’t a good idea for them to be close. He knew it had to be like this to keep them both safe. He stood up to leave when he heard several booms out from the water. He looked out to see a ship seeming to explode from the inside and sink almost instantly. After that, what looked like a torpedo shot through the water toward the shore. It stopped and Charlie saw it was instead a woman rather than a torpedo. He jumped down from the roof and headed into a bar. Whatever he had seen, it had made him curious. He sat at a corner table and watched the people. Once again, his roaming eyes spotted easy purses to snatch but he wasn’t here for that, for once. He was just here to have a drink and maybe find out about this woman who could blow up a ship on her own. As he sat there, he heard chatter around him talking about her. Everyone was calling her the Hydra of Hryst. That left Charlie even more curious and a bit confused. But that left another question.“Who in the hell is the Hydra of Hryst?” LAIKA OF GS!

YO I'M FEELING MYSELF
Sailors heard the father's confusion and begun to laugh in merriment, a smell of sea salt and whiskey apparent in their breaths. "You must be living under a rock to not know who the Hydra of Hyrst is! She's a living legend!" One rather tall sailor, who looked like he was of Hispanic descent, leaned towards Charles like a giraffe craning it's neck. "The Hydra of Hyrst is the woman with golden hair and dressed like a witch," He started, jabbing his thumb towards her general direction. Shinonome moved fast, so any crowd was left behind in her speedy brisk. "Officially, she's Shinonome Morgan, the captain of the Ophelia. I work for her, you know! The woman is jack crazy, but she's one of the best of the best in the entire Hyrst forces! They say she's gifted by gods, and gains superpowers to blow holes out of ships and fly..." A burlier sailor gave a 'harrumph' and gave his own theory. "Yeah, right! Listen, boyo, the reason she's so good is because she's a mechanical genius and has crazy robots to do it for her, like those Aquavian fellows! Pedro here doesn't work with her as much as I do, see!" The Hispanic man gave a hollar at the burly man. "Hey, shut the hell up, Bubba! You're just a damn deck-hand!" He went back to talking to Charles, Bubba grumbling behind him. "Anyways, the reason she's famous is because she can do really strange things, like fly, make bullets out of nothing, and, most famously, destroy ships. Pirates and criminals NEVER get past her on the high seas, or even on the ground! Why, there was this one time that she and a Knight, Story Luminus, I think, detained almost two dozen bandits in a few minutes..." And the man trailed into telling the story of Open the Gates. Meanwhile, Captain Morgan was trying to get back to her ship. The gods know she needed a drink after that whole debacle, and her arms were kind of sore after blasting four holes and imploding an entire sea vessel. Still, she saw her crewmen at the corner of her eye, looking like they were harassing some guy with red hair. They were spouting nonsense about her... again. Loud as day, too, the idiots. Marching up to them, she yanked the back of their shirts, having an annoyed expression at them. "Oy, you two talking bullshit 'bout me again! I oughta hang you two by your chest hairs from the crow's nest next time I catch you! In fact, I might just do that now, considering that the ship I just killed grated on my damn nerves! Now scram!" "Y-YEAH, BOSS!" They then skedaddled out of there, the pressure manipulator being left alone with Charles. The blonde took a more sensible look. "Sorry about that, those two are mouthy when people ask about me. The fact I blew open a ship probably made it worse, hahaha!" She chuckled and scratched the back of her head, her witch's bonnet bobbing with her arm. "Hopefully, they didn't tell ya anything stupid. Yeah, Shinonome Morgan, nice to meet you." The six-foot tall woman gave a toothy grin and extended her right arm for a handshake. |

Charlie was a bit surprised by the sudden conversation by his question. These two drunk sailors seemed very enthusiastic if nothing else. These stories of this navy captain went on and on. Taking ships down completely on her own. Taking out nearly two dozen bandits, attacking Hryst with Story. Hearing Story’s name brought up things from Charlie but he pushed them down. And saving a pink haired girl from certain death not once but ten times, probably another exaggeration. Charlie suppressed the urge to roll his eyes as he listened. “I was just wondering who she was, I didn’t ask for a resume.” It was obvious these drunk sailors were used to just telling tall tales amongst themselves and trying to one up each other. Charlie wasn’t so easily impressed by drunk stories. He’d rather hear things from a credible source. One thing the sailors did mention that interested him was how she was able to do what she did. Superpowers to do things like that or Aquavian tech. Well, one of those at least was able to be stolen. If they were really Aquavian items, they’d need to be small. That would be hard to track down. It wouldn’t be smart to steal from a navy captain. And though it sounded like it could be challenging, Charlie figured it would be best to try and find others of the kind to snatch. They’d be really helpful in a pinch. Of course, if they were actually superpowers, or some sort of gift, then Charlie wouldn’t be able to get his hands on them at all.He was about to ask them more about her when the woman in question walked right up and made them leave. He looked her over quickly when her attention was focused on the sailors. Outfit looking to be fit a witch more than a ship captain. Sword sheathed at her hip. Nothing strange or out of place but her outfit did look like it had a lot of places to hide things. He could almost guarantee that she had a flask, or three, somewhere on her. He looked back up at her face when she spoke to him. He shook her hand. “I’m Charlie. They didn’t really tell me anything stupid I guess. Except that two dozen bandits turned into about 300 and you took most of them out. That was probably exaggerating.” LAIKA OF GS!

UGHHHHHHFUCKSHITASSCUNTJESUSFUCKAHHHHHHHH This man... he was looking her up and down. Oh, she could tell between an admiration of the female aesthetics, a target for possible theft, and a calculated 'you may be my enemy in the future' look, and Nome would bet twenty pieces that it was something between the second and the third. As he spoke. 'Eyes up here,' She spoke mentally, as her looked up to face her. 'We'll see if you're planning to hit my pockets.' Continuing to be a pretty fun person, she kept her caution as a tint of disapproval shaded her grin. "Eh? Oh, that thing I did last month. Yeah, last count was thirty-four of the bastards, I probably couldn't go for two-hundred. Although, if they all stood real still..." She trailed off before continuing the conversation.
Suddenly, it seemed that the air around Shinonome gained a few ounces, but it was nothing really noticeable. Well, it wasn't just a trick of the mind; all air pressure within six inches of her just started to push towards the ground. 'Never hurts to be careful.' Then her eye glanced at her clothing, and a sigh escaped her lips. Aw, damn it, she got a bit of blood on her. Well, better wash that off quick. Still keeping the pressure, she gave him a look of embarrassment. "Hey, sorry pal, I've gotta get this blood off my suit. Killing pirates tends to get messy, I've found. They're always so energetic near the end..." Shinonome said, sounding like a psychopath while looking completely nonchalant about it.
"So yeah, I gotta get back home and wash this off. Nice talking to you!" Nome gave a wave as she moved to pass by his right, the conversation traditionally ending at that point. Turning her back on him, the invisible weight moved with her as she started walking away, towards her house. Air particles gravitated towards the ground before resuming their aimless movement as she walked past them. Really, she needed a nice, warm bath, and she was a bit winded from blasting that small ship. 'Maybe I should practice more.' Her thoughts trailed to the last time she practices. '...Actually, on second thought, it'd be better if I didn't frustrate the junkyard boys.' |

Charlie’s eyes went back up to her when she said she wouldn’t be able to handle fighting 200 bandits. He smiled a bit as her voice trailed off with her thoughts. So the sailors had been embellishing quite a bit. It didn’t matter, that wasn’t the main point of his interest. His eyes kept scanning to see any kind of gadget or anything that might tip him off as to how she could do what she did. There was still nothing that he could see. He was starting to doubt the sailors’ tale of it being Aquavian tech. So that would mean a god given gift. If that were true, it was better to not try to provoke her.He was about to ask about the incident out in the waters but her words about her clothes stopped him. He saw the blood on her dress. There wasn’t a lot of it but it would stain if not cleaned off quickly enough. Charlie had learned a long time ago from Laina just how hard blood was to get out of clothes. He nodded at her when she excused herself. For her comment about pirates being energetic, his mind went to a totally different idea and he smirked slightly trying not to laugh as his own thoughts.“Yeah, go ahead and clean off that. You wouldn’t want it to get ruined.” He watched her walk away. So, no thievery against her. It was too risky. He probably end up like the ship sinking out in the bay rather than escaping with what he’d been after. He stretched a bit and got up. He left the bar quickly and started heading back toward central Aster. There was still plenty of coin ready to be thieved. And he was in just the right mood to do it now. LAIKA OF GS!
