Sakrine Dubane NINETEEN FEMALE HETEROSEXUAL SAKI HYRST KNIGHT IT BEGAN WITH A PEN IN MY HAND APPEARANCE Standing at a height of 5'7" and weighing approximately 121 lbs Sakrine is considered more or less average in both areas; perhaps a bit skinnier that her height entails but otherwise a healthy young woman. She still possesses a healthy muscle tone with thanks to her regular training. Such results are easy to see with her choice of dress; unlike most in her profession Sakrine prefers the use of light and tight-fitting armours which grant swift mobility. Coupled with light metallic shoulder guards and a secure set of two leather straps. One travelling diagonally across her torso to join with the other across her waist at her left hip. It is on tight waist band she sheaths her sword. Although vanity has little meaning to her personally she has been called a beauty several times over the course of her life. With her pale complexion and heart-shaped face it's not very difficult to see why: when her favourite mask is not present that is. Her eyes and hair are very similar with regards to pigment, bearing only slight differences in shade. Her hair a dark navy with some minor purple accents which are brought to attention when in direct light as well as the majority of the strands taking on a lighter shade of blue. It's not uncommon for her to arrange her waist-length hair into a secure up-do if it suits her. Which when coupled with her mask gives her the appearance of an effeminate boy. In doing this she's often been mistaken for the opposite gender but has never felt the need to correct. Binding her chest for convenience only seems to provoke the assumption. Her eyes are nicely framed by full lashes and are known to be quite expressive of her emotions, a partial reason for donning a mask in certain situations. Her irises deviate between a dull and chrome blue depending on the surrounding light. STABBED IN THE CENTER OF CHAOS PERSONALITY Sakrine has a good heart and good intentions to go along with it. Born and raised in Hyrst the concepts and teachings of honour were not lost on her. As a result of this her moral compass remains strong and she has little difficulty in determining right from wrong, though her will isn't as strong as she'd like it to be. Despite the confidence others seem to have in her skills she wishes she could say the same. Her faith in herself isn't so strong, it's not unusual for her to begin doubting her competence to tackle an issue if it appears well beyond her ability and she may need reassurance from a second party in some cases. This lack of self-worth too stems from the guilt of not abiding by her mother's wishes. Sakrine fears that by not doing as her ancestors had before her she would bring a great shame on them and inadvertently become the last in her line of enchantresses and not passing on those teachings. She originally pursued the path of knighthood in an effort to follow in her father and elder brother's footsteps as well as her admiration of heroes in her childhood stories. These influences are what compels her to help others and she's more than happy to do so and receive praise which brings out her more child-like qualities. She;s particularly fond of animals. Even at the age of nineteen she's far more energetic and cheerful than most, stemming from her optimistic attitude and outlook on life in Hyrst; she's still somewhat ignorant of the regions beyond what she's read in the city archives and what she's seen from the dock of her uncle's ship in childhood. It's often said her empathy would be her downfall. She can't help but put herself in others shoes and see things from their point of view before making important decisions, within reason of course. Not everyone is as deserving of mercy in the eyes of some. This trait can sometimes sway her judgement although she reprimands herself afterwards. If she managed to catch a child in the act of stealing odds are she'll turn a blind eye or vouch for them if they somehow manage to get themselves caught. Regardless of what others say she's not ashamed of her 'bleeding heart' but doesn't dismiss the negative possibilities that may arise because of it. Abilities Swordsmanship: [Adept] - Sakrine has and always will favour the blade over any other weapon that finds itself in her arsenal. As a knight she's been required to handle firearms and can do so on an operational level but her true skills shine through when she handles her blade - Larcyn's Tear, which is a keepsake from her late father and one of two identical blades. The other given the name of Larcyn's Tooth is in the possession of her older brother. Having finished her time at the Academy of Knighthood three years ago she's far more attuned with her weapon. - Agility: [Expert] - As a woman Sakrine is naturally agile and swift however it's thanks to Brynne's blessings that she can hone this ability beyond the average means during times of high tension. These traits are accented in her combat style thanks to her choice of clothing which doesn't hinder her movements as much as conventional plated armours. She's also quite adept at scaling objects and traversing otherwise perilous terrains by foot since her speed also grants her a high level of momentum to overcome certain obstacles. It also plays an important role concerning the speed with her strikes. - Enchantment: [Novice] - Her gift for arcane arts is something she and all females in her family inherit since her ancestor was blessed by Brynne but it's nowhere near a powerful as the older woman's at present. Sakrine is just barely considered a novice and she doesn't hold much love for the art. She feels obligated to practice it more than anything/ Still seeing through with it in small doses but doesn't think it of greater importance when compared to her swordplay. She's not yet skilled enough to preform anything above minor charms on weapons, armours and smaller objects. She's not limited to doing so on her own possessions. Weapons; She can essentially grant her weapon a weak elemental quality that coincides with her specific affinity for lightning; which gives her strikes a literal shock and scorch effect with a very small chance of muscle paralysis if she's fortunate enough to strike nerves. An enchanter's element is privy only to them, in Sakrine's female line at least. Rather than lightning her mother was more suited to ice based enchantments. At her current level the enchantment can only sustain a total of five hits to an enemy before running out needing to be recast; which takes time and effort and although the lightning itself remains anchored to the blade it doesn't limit it's natural movements. The consistent movement of the bolts on her blade broaden her reach when it comes to a sword swing. [3 post cooldown after 5th hit.] Armours; Lightning enforced armour is less impressive than weapon infusion. Sakrine took it upon herself to practice it simply because of her decision to wear lighter themes of combative clothing. In actuality all the spell will offer at her current level is a slight boost in defence by reflecting the force of the damage dealt by blows. She's tried to strengthen this effect through trial and error but so far it's just been shocking results, and not the good kind. In contrast to her blade Larcyn's enchantment her armour's lasts significantly longer. Whether this is just because she rarely finds herself in serious battles or because of the nature of the spell is uncertain. She's desperate to grasp the dynamics of the process but it's far more difficult without her mother to guide her; however sternly. [Deflection lasts 4 posts with a 3 post cooldown.] - Navigation: [Adept] - With her land of origin and a sailor/merchant of an uncle who liked to sneak his niece and nephew aboard his vessel in the warmer months; it was likely for Sakrine to pick up some of his skill set. Although she can't determine her exact spot by a mere glance at the stars she can fully operate and understand the necessary devices and charts needed to get a ship from a to b as well as sail it there with little trouble. TO WRITE OUT THE LIGHT HISTORY One could say Sakrine lived a very blessed life. As one born in the upper level of Aster the girl and her family rarely had to go without sustenance with exception to the cold winters; when food and trade were at its scarce. She had been born the second child to her parents, her older brother exceeding her by a total of four years and due to complications with her birth it was determined that her mother would bare no more children. The news was taken hard at first by the couple but the grief eventually faded with the knowledge that they were fortunate enough to have their daughter alive and well despite the initial scare of her delivery. Alvina, Sakrine's mother, was a loyal follower of their lands patron goddess Bryne. Their skill in magical arts, namely enchantment, had been a blessing received by her several greats grandmother and through the bloodlines the skill had been shown to manifest in the women of the family. To her husband and son the devotion was present though not nearly as extensively in practice. It seemed being born with a Y chromosome spared the males from being frequently dragged to temples of worship. It was highly expected of Sakrine to follow her mother's guidance and become a skilled manipulator of magical energies. Her daughter however, had other plans. The theoretical and practical aspects of the art didn't come so easily to Sakrine as it did her mother. In contrast, as a young girl Alvina had been considered a type of prodigy in the area and was under the assumption that her daughter was to be the same. That wasn't the case. Along with the constant prodding and scolding from the family matriarch Sakrine had begun to hate it even more. Her father was a knight, a damn good one at that. Although he may not have possessed a high rank within the militia of Hyrst he was well-known and equally as well-liked amongst the people. Whereas Sakrine was suscepted to her mother's torturous lessons of enchantment her brother, Alister, was taken under their father's wing and taught basic combat skills. Something Sakrine began to take more interest in with each passing day. She began to beg her elder sibling for training lessons once she was certain their parents weren't present and demanded him to reiterate their father's and the academy's teachings to her after each of his lessons. The desire to pursue a knightly path became more and more appealing. As young children they couldn't have kept the secret for long. As expected Alvina was furious once she'd discovered the girl had been shirking her studies to sword-fight with her brother. Who'd been scolded alongside his sister before the benevolent being that was their father decided to quell the demons rage and reason with her. It was the type of talk that parents asked their children to make themselves scarce for, to this day neither are certain of what their father said to successfully agree to let Sakrine attend the Academy of Knighthood when she came of age. Needless to say her relationship with her mother was as brittle as ever after that. Being told it was near sinful to 'squander your blessing' like she was. It left a lasting impression on the young girl and was the starting point for her accumulating guilt on the subject. In her tenth year of life and Alister's fourteenth, she was given news of her fathers death. There were often times where the city's militia were requested to guard and ensure the safe passage of particularly precious cargo on the departing ships. In her father's case the vessel he was upon met the sad fate of falling to pirates; or at least that's what they'd been told. With the body never recovered they could never be sure of what happened beyond a flaming wreck. The news hit hard for the family and the siblings quickly became reclusive to those other than each other which prompted their grieving mother to force them onto their merchant uncle and father's brother for the several months that the winter stalled the shipping trade. It was their uncle who passed to them the twin blades. Nuka the pug arrived in her live when she happened upon a starving pup nary three weeks old in streets Lower Aster on her way home from the academy with her brother. With neither opposed to the idea of a pet the two decidedly nursed the canine back to health though with Alister's more frequent absences he became more attached to Sakrine to the point he would act as her shadow and waddle loyally behind her near constantly. She began to see less of Alister once he had graduated from the academy and took on his active role as a knight of Hyrst but he made certain to visit whenever possible. Having had little to no contact with Alvina, Sakrine was under the impression that their mother had either fully succumbed to her grief over their father's death or steered clear of her children because they only served as a reminder. With her brother living elsewhere in the city following his graduation and her uncle off once more on the waters, Sakrine spent most of her days alone save for her canine companion when classes at the academy progressed onward. She was happy enough to have her brother present for the joyous occasion that was her graduation ceremony for however briefly. Her uncle elsewhere on business. Like all it was at the age of sixteen she completed her education and dove straight into dutiful roles. It's been three years since then and many things had transpired during the seemingly short time lapse. She'd received word from her uncle informing her of her mother's disappearance, which daunted her all the more at the thought of her dead. A rather selfish train of thought on her part in not wishing to be left as the last of her line just yet. In the present day Sakrine still serves as a knight of Hyrst; mainly in the capital city of her birth though she's seen much of her homeland due to various excursions she'd been requested to attend for security measures. Determined to become as respected a knight as her father was, throughout the years she left the academy she's become more battle-hardened and suited to them. That being said she's never gone looking for trouble in order to prove herself. However, in noting lack of assurance in her skill be assumption of gender capabilities it what prompted her to wear a mask and pin her locks in attempted camouflage. Of course in the beginning it could only be used to fool for so long but by the time Aster had learned of their 'masked knight' she'd become attached to the partial covering and made a habit of wearing it whenever it suited her.
