LINETTE Corin bravard

PLAYED BY SHARPIE
LIN, Linny etc. / Corin Female 22 Hyrst dockworker/ bird-tamer Bisexual | a p p e a r a n c e _______________________________ Linette's face is one commonly seen around the aster docks. she is a long-haired woman with fair hair who often has a far-off look in her brown, almond-shaped eyes, as though she is in a daze, some kind of permanent dream. Then sometimes she will startle, looking at you as though she never even noticed you were there. Linette is not particularly tall, standing at 5 foot and 6 inches. She has long limbs and a short body; as a young girl for having her mother's figure although, honestly, she thinks this may just have been courtesy. she has subtle curves in her hips, a narrow waist, sure, but Linette does not believe she is much to write home about. linette is slim and her arms and legs are somewhat toned. She has good posture, keeping her back straight and her shoulders back at all times. scattered over her sun-kissed skin can be found several moles which she has had since birth, including some on her face, along with a brown, oval-shaped birthmark on her left forearm. linette favours loose fitting clothing, which is also practical for her to move about in: dresses and comfortable trousers, plain, baggy t-shirts and thin jackets. That said, hyrstic winters are bitterly cold and it is during the winter that Linette wears coats and gloves, bundling herself up. she is, certainly, a summer girl. Warmer weather suits her more than the cold, although she does not complain when the days grow cooler. Linette is fond, also, of hats and hence, whatever the weather, one can be found atop her head, they may be loose and a little too big for her head, sure, but she likes them all the same. without fail, Linette will be found with a thick leather gauntlet on her left hand, recognisable by some as a bird tamer's glove. p e r s o n a l i t y _______________________________ "Freedom has the highest values of all things which exist in this world. Without freedom, life is meaningless." Linette has always been a free-spirited girl and is more interested in dreams than in the realities of the world. Sure, there are some interesting things to see but dreams are something to work towards. Specifically, Linette dreams of one day being able to fly. Linette also values freedom highly. As far as she is concerned, the worst thing that you can do to a person is to deny them simple freedoms. her fascination with birds and with flight stems from a desire to be truly free. Her life isn't bad; she likes her work and she cares deeply for her family; travel is very plausible-- yet she doubts it will never be enough. Not until she has experienced the freedom of flight. Often when Linette is not busy, she can be found day-dreaming, SHe is not shy about sharing her dream with people, although she has been belittled for it before. Something about her head being in the clouds, she wishes it were. Insulting though it may be, she will rub it in the faces of people when one day, however far away that day is, she finds a way to achieve her goal. opinionated and never shy about sharing what it is on her mind, Linette can come across as rather blunt. She says what she thinks when she thinks it, finding little reason in beating around the bush. If she thinks someone is being an idiot, linette will tell them; if she likes someone, she will bite the bullet and let them know. Tip-toeing around things, as though walking on glass, only makes them more difficult to address. Certainly, Linette has a direct way of speaking to people and as such, they will usually know where they stand with her. Linette is a sarcastic sort of person, not unfamiliar with sassing people for her own amusement. In this regard, Linette can come across as rude. Let people think what she wants, she doesn't mean any harm by her comments and if she meant what she said, she would damn well make sure that the other person knew about it. Smooth-talkers, outright-liars and braggarts are most likely to get Linette's rebuttals. She has no patience for elaborations or fictitious versions of the truth and petty compliments do not work on her. straight-talkers are far superior in every way. Though she can be abrasive at times, Linette is not such a bad person. She shows a degree of passion to others, specifically those in trouble by no fault of their own, and sympathises with other dreamers, with the downtrodden and the outcasts. Being told that a dream is unachievable has given her something of an insight into what it is to be pushed to the wayside and she is more likely to be close to those who also share this perspective. much of her love, however, is directed at the birds which she tames. Although she has only one at any one time, she remembers them all fondly. Some people may question why Linette likes to be called 'Corin', her father's name. The answer, in Linette's eyes, is simple. Corin Bravard dreamed of having a son to which he could pass on his name. Instead, he had a daughter. Hence Linette took it as her middle name. Linette has embraced this wholeheartedly. The name Corin Bravard has been the name of many Hyrstic sailors and fishermen over the past seven generations. The name, to her, is an ideal, an embodiment of freedom. Many of her relatives embraced freedom via the waves of the sea and that is something which Linette can get behind. LIKES:

GOALS & SECRETS:
a b i l i t i e s / s k i l l s _______________________________ skill -- bird taming Linette has taken an interest in birds since a young age and, more specifically, handling them. Although she still has a lot to learn, Linette is willing to take the time that it takes to do so and she is very patient about it. training the birds is rewarding and she could never imagine taking up a different career than the one she has, although a change of scenery might be nice. gift -- avian connection Linette is able to bond with a single bird of her choosing with her gift, given by the god jag. after she has bonded to this bird, she is able to use multiple abilities in regards to it. Due to the strength of the formed bond, any physical pain endured by the bird is replicated in Linette; any sickness in her bird makes her feverish and sick too. Her current companion is a fish owl by the name of alban. Alban has been trained to aid in the transport of messages but also to be able to defend Linette: simply put, she has taught him to go for people's eyes on her command. Fortunately, she has never actually had to instruct him to do this before. the warbler's voice (passive) -- Linette is able to communicate with birds and have them understand her through this ability. This helps her tremendously with training them to help her with her work. Communication is eased. However, she cannot understand what they say, merely she gets a feeling that they know what she is speaking about. linette can only communicate with her bonded bird and no other birds would understand her if she spoke to them. the eagle's eyes -- using this ability, Linette is able to see through the eyes of her bonded bird. in this way, she is able to report back on things which are occuring out at sea. It is also useful in the event that her bird gets lost. If she uses this ability, Linette can see where they are and attempt to find them. thus far alban has not been so bad at finding his way home. linette can use this once per thread, for a maximum of three posts. using it for the full three posts translates to her feeling nauseous and developing a migraine. extended use is not good for her health. the major drawback of this ability is that it has damaged Linette's eye-sight to a degree and far away things are hard for her to see. the owl's ears -- Using this ability, Linette is able to hear what her bonded bird is hearing. this allows her to collect messages from ships out at sea and them pass them on. it would also be useful for trying to find out other pieces of information. linette can use this once per thread, for a maximum of three posts. using it for the full three posts translates to her feeling nauseous and developing a migraine. extended use is not good for her health. additional note: the owl's ears and the eagle's eyes can be used in conjunction. however, this lessens the duration for which it can last. linette can use her abilities together once per thread, and only so long as she has not already used them seperately. Usage lasts two posts. the side effects remain as previously stated. (NEED TO rewrite the limitations!!!) strengths: |
