DESPAIR NOT. I WILL SHARE YOUR BURDENS FOREVERMORE.
Of course he didn't understand, because he was far too smart to listen to her riddles and accept them without question. Brynne gave a small, mental sigh at herself. He questioned more and more about their endings - both mortal and immortal. "Yes-- well, no--..." she took back her words, face scrunching as she tried to find the right way to explain it to him. She had to go into further detail. Grayson had the curiosity of a child.. and though Brynne was a mother to all her children within Hrystic lands, she hadn't once been family with one.
"Their lives are limited.. very limited," she spoke, removing her hands from him and taking a step back to turn and observe the lively dock. "They run so short.. a handful of decades and their journey is at its end," though she voiced fact, her tone was soft and reminescent of the stories she had seen in her hundreds of years over these people. She could recall so many faces, so many names in history - from childhood til they were put into the ground. "We do not bleed like them," her head turned to Grayson, trying to explain more little details in hopes that he could start to understand, "We do not age like them.. do not grow sick like them. Grayson - we are--... a different species," her handes entertwined in front of her at her attempts in phrasing.
Then came the difficult question to answer. Brynne didn't mind that he'd voiced himself, caring not for his small apology and only thinking purely of it. "It's fine to ask such things, Grayson," she smiled to reassure him, peeking her head underneath his to keep his eyes on her own. "No worry to shy from them. The reason.. you're so young-?" she grinned a bit more, showing pearly white teeth from her pale pink lips as a hand lifted to his chin and a finger brought his head up once more. "--Is because you were only just born into this realm. I was born once.." she smirked.
"Energies from all over that we cannot fathom or see, even greater than us.. of time and life and death-- they form us," it wasn't a lie. And they'd helped in his creation. But... he had plenty of her own soul within him. "You will live lifetimes, Grayson. You are divine. Do you understand more now?" her question was innocent and she took another step away to give him space and time to think.

and i can't understand~ 499 WORDS | BRYNNE | OUTFIT | NOTES |
Yes-- well, no--..
His eyes remained on her, his goddess, as she seemed to struggle to find the words to say to him. Head tilted slightly to the right. She moved back, her eyes looking past him. Their lives are limited... very limited. Grayson breathed deeply, his gaze following Brynne's, the saltiness of the air igniting something deep within the young Speaker. Something...old. Not as old as Brynne by any means; he was barely a minute fraction of the woman in white's age. Not even close. But whatever this was that he was feeling...it had been ingrained in his being a long time ago.
And yet he had no memory of a reason as to why he would feel this way.
Brynne's lips continued to move, her words falling unheard as Grayson became absorbed in watching the activity on the docks. He wanted to be out there, to help, but why? Why feel this way? "That's not how you clean a fish," he said quietly, his words spilling from his mouth before he even had a chance to think about them, or to question why he knew that what the man wearing elbow-length gloves was cutting the fish the wrong way.
Grayson - Hearing his name called brought him out of his daze. - we are-... a different species. She folded her hands in front of her, as if speaking to someone much younger. In truth, Grayson was an infant compared to her, compared to the rest of the divines. She told him that his curiosity wasn't a bad thing, but that didn't convince Grayson. He felt like he should already know everything about all things, no matter how unrealistic of an expectation that was for him to have of himself.
"Are there more species than just divine and human?" he asked in the hanging silence that followed her acceptance of his odd apology. Brynne's face filled his view, and Gray lifted his chin a bit, a small grin creeping into the corners of his lips. She told him why he was so young; he had just been born into this realm. She even smirked at him, telling him that she, too, had been born, once. Once upon a time, perhaps.
She continued to speak, but Gray was hung up on something she had said. He had only just been born into this realm. This realm? Were there others? Other realms? Had Brynne been there? Had he? "Was I someone before now?"
There was no malice in his voice, nothing to give Brynne anything to worry about. He was curious. Had he been someone else? Did he have a family somewhere?
She said he would live lifetimes because he was divine. Do you understand more now? Grayson sighed, nodding, as she took yet another step away from him. "Yes," he lied for the first time.
He didn't understand. How could he? It was as if he simply could not comprehend anything that Brynne was saying. At all. Why?

DESPAIR NOT. I WILL SHARE YOUR BURDENS FOREVERMORE.
Her eyes flickered with a sharpened worry when his attention had turned to the fishy smell in the air and the man cleaning it his own way. He had barrels of them behind him, sitting on a bench with the trout on his thigh and knife in-hand. Grayson had known the dock like the back of his hand when he was a man... He'd known the sea as his home. It was a part of him. A part that she couldn't take away - because she never wanted to. Brynne only gave to him.. gave him his immortality, a piece of herself instilled within his very soul. The memory had gone upon his transission from his last life to this one.. something she never imagined to become a dilema in the future.
"There are many energies in the world. But in this realm.. I believe we and the mortals' ecosystems are the only beings. But there is death.. there is life.. there is time. There are so many things above us that rule everything we know," she spoke as an educating mother, trying to take his attention away from anything else. She leaned in a little closer with an interested spark across her features as if to tell him some form of secret. "Some believe the old gods were born of those elements - that they created them themselves and from them bore and branched out all that made us into existence. A thought to study, isn't it?" she smirked, folding her hands behind her.
But then came his question.. she blinked with pure emerald eyes., leaning slowly back from him and seeming a little dumbfounded. It was a first for the goddess to not know how to respond so thickly that words wouldn't escape her mouth.. Until something pulled her out of the state. Something painful.. Brynne stumbled back a few steps, gasping and holding the sides of her head with eyes wide open at the ground, staring at something invisible with horror. "Ah-!.." she'd exclaimed, trying to still herself. She took deep and audible breaths that made her chest rise and fall with something that could almost be described as internal violence. "What is this--?" her face twisted with confusion as she stared at the ground.. then flicked her eyes up to Grayson. "...Grayson.. the twins--.. something is wrong. Something is coming," she shook her head, trying to make sense of the utter darkness she felt.
And then she heard Dym's shout.. His cry. It erupted in her ears, possibly even her speaker's. It was spiritual and meant for them in the realm they lived in. Something else had entered it.. something so wrong. She only said three words.. just three. "They need me!" Then a bolt of lightning struck around her and whisked her upwards - creating thunder from a sunny day and alerting those around at the docks to look at the sky in confusion. The thunderous roar stopped in a second.. and the weather had calmed once more in her absence.
